As the title says, I am looking for a little advice with my first loan. About the 10th of this month, I'm looking to secure a roughly 8 billion isk loan for a month, at a low interest rate (preferably 3%, but no higher than 5). I can collateralize the entire loan with a few capitals in the forge and a few ships in Jita, but what is the best way to handle the collateral, does anyone know what someone like Chribba or darkness would charge, or is it going to be possible to find an investor within a reasonably short time who will hold the collat themselves (thus removing the fee of a third party) ?

Yes they charge - their fees are listed - Chribba is 250Mil / Grendal is 1% / Raw is free(?)
You should be able to get 3% for the loan if full collateral is available
You can find investors that will hold but then you need to be sure you can trust them - that's what the 3rd parties provide.

If timing is critical start sorting the loan a few days earlier it can take time to sort out confirmation from the 3rd parties and prospective investors

Please like my posts it makes me feel better about the time I spend on the forums WTS... Smiles

If you contact RAW23 to hold collateral, he agrees and the collateral is actually worth what you say, I'll fill your loan at 3%.

or I'll fill it at 2.5%
after you work out the 3rd party.

Or I'll fill it at 2% I don't mind 3rd party or not but obviously would need to see what the collateral is and make sure we agree on the value.

It's just the market in action.

The established price for collateralised loans is 2% and that's where it generally ends.

When it comes to these smaller and short term loans, it's generally not worth the bother for the bigger investors so smaller investors can get in early and may even get a slightly higher rate on it (3-4%). But there has been an increase in investment activity in MD over the last month or so which now means there are usually 3-4 people with money ready for each small collateralised loan that gets put up... so 2% is where it falls to.

It can always get worse, from an investors point of view, since Angelica Everstar has been filling his/her very large collateralised loans at 1.8%. Personally, I've invested at that rate, but I only think it's worth it if you can get in for a large chunk of it as 1.8% on a small piece is hardly worth logging in to transfer the isk!

Just transfer all Bobby's "small pieces" to me - I'll log in for them.

Thank you for the advice and offers, those prices on the third parties are much more reasonable than I expected. Someone actually offered ingame that I'm going to take up on it (I've known the for a while now and they're happy to hold the collat), but if that falls through (i.e. they cant for whatever reason), I'll grab someone from this thread, thank you.

Depends, I get the impression that players such as myself that have smaller ISK pots to invest might be willing to go lower. I have about 10B liquid isk, sure I have an alt that can day trade but that doesnt suit my playing style at all. Right now any offering on MD that collateralised, gets filled almost instantly especially by more established investors. Personally I would consider going lower as market trading doesnt interest me at all and I would rather have my pile of isk provide me some kind of income rather than sat there.

I can understand that.

A fair chunk of my NAV is in T2 BPOs that largely make returns in the 0.4%-0.6% range (yes that's a fraction of a percent) from manufacturing and I'm fine with that. Because ultimately they require little effort and there is always the ongoing appreciation of rare assets to benefit me in the long run.

However, I'm carrying close to 2T in NAV and am unwilling to spend huge amounts of time looking for profitable things to put my isk in to. You, with 10B available, could easily get a better return on your isk from relatively simple and low-effort investments in T1 BPOs that you either research or copy and sell. This kind of work only requires you to be active once a month (or even less) to start and deliver research jobs and throw products up on contracts. So I'd advise you not sell yourself short with sub 2% returns.

[EDIT] On the other hand, I have a 1.8% collateralised loan up now, so you are welcome to take it up.

If it is an unknown entity then I shall withdraw my offer.

I'm happy to hold it myself or go with an established 3rd party.
