I'm happy to hear a TV series of Eve is being made, Films are great but you can go into more depth with the characters in a tv series.

Do you think they will end up going to Stain, then?

It's possible, Sansha is a popular enemy, Then you have the 4 empires, all the factions, wormholes, drifters. Theres a wealth of stories.

I may pop into your consultancy later, I am in need of some of your epic counselling. It's tough being an Eve pilot these days.

Three simple steps to make a succesful adaptation:

- make it a good story on its own
- no fanservice unless it serves the purpose of making it a good story on its own
- don't try to fit EVE in a series. Pick a small section that makes a good story on its own and focus on that alone

Example: Master and Commander.

- it is a good story on its own: a small ship with a elite crew chases a superior enemy and defeats it
- the fanservice is there just to make it a good story. Yes, we all would had loved to see Diana Viliers and Sophie Aubrey, but that wouldn't have fit into the story
- the film barely depicts 3/4 of a book with incidental content from others. No attempt to cram 20 books worth of stories in a single production.

Best way to start the approach? The novels. Emyrean age and Templar One. Great stories cause story came first.

Quantum rise tried taking us for a tour and visit all eve as focus... Not so much...

Make it real to EVE.

Episode one: nothing but a bubbled POS in reinforcement while it shows a countdown timer on TV. With a bunch of people shittalking each other.

Episode two: an hour of watching some guy do nothing but sit in a station calling his broker to make a sell order 0.01 less

Episode three: an hour of a fleet sitting right outside a station while hearing someone yell over the radio that people need to stop mining and come help

Episode four: 59 minutes of nothing but a freighter flying around with netflix faintly heard in the background. In the last 60 seconds of the episode 20 ships show up and shoot it

I bet in the end, like a lot of adaptations, it will look nothing like how we see Eve as players.

For example, it'll probably have massive fleet fights and villainy stuff like awoxing.

Great stories that sadly don't exist anymore.

Lol, hey listen, if there is epic sci-fi to be made Ridley Scott is the man to goto, he's made proper sci-fi for a long time, I'm a fan of his works.

Obviously, it will be about a selection of characters, perhaps from the 4 different races. It could be about terrorist attacks, war. survival from the drifters, and not forgetting the mystical Jove. I could type all night about stuff like this.

I'm going to audition for the part of a deadly Minmatar gangster.

I'd rather vote for player stories from the Pod & Planet contest. Some are terrific good. Cool

A movie based on Eve would be one heck of a project to take on. The past lore is very set. Basing it on player-made content like past battles would lack depth as there would be too many aspects to cover.

Empyrean Age would be a great basis for a novel, but then so would Templar One. Unfortunately you can't have Templar One without Empyrean Age and they are too big to combine, unless you want a beginning like the cinematic Dune that will have every non player glazing over in 1 minute (and ever player who has not read the book).

Welp... out in your "wouldn't that be nice" recommendations:

Some miners listening to "Led Zepplin when the levy breaks" they found in a data core they found get ganked. Then suddenly people figure out it has earth stuff in it and all want it.

Story made in two seconds.

Oh, I perfectly understand, Hal Morsh — a mission like this requires courage, skill, and heroism… qualities you are clearly lacking. Have you forgotten you're one of the bloody immortals!?

Episode Five: Series pulled due to low ratings and complaints that null is broke. Time slot replaced with "Muppets in Space" with Miss Piggy as Empress Jamyl Sarum. Big smile

Civil discourse is uniquely human. After all, when is the last time a pride of lions and a herd of water buffalo negotiated SOV over a watering hole? Never. Someone either gets their ass kicked or eaten. At the end of the day someone holds SOV.

I think the movie could start in the year 2132 where resources are running dry, there are wars over water the world is in chaos, then the black hole or Eve gate is found, If the Eve story is to be told it must be told from the beginning.

Also Eve is way too big to fit into a movie, it must be a series.

Ponders how the TV show will describe the technology of EVE. You know, submarine physics, not being able to warp in an aribitrary direction, bouncing off of everything, shooting through solid objects, why railguns shoot non-magnetic lead instead of just using anti-matter for everything, etc.

edit: And if we're killed outside of our pod, we don't get brain mapped to a new clone. That aspect should be interesting to gloss over, unless of course, the entire show is about the spaceships, i.e. no WiS. =)

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Sounds epic! Smile
there's more higher quality stories done for tv than movies these days anyways.
