Hello chaps.

I find myself once again coming here to ask for aid from the best community in eve there is .

Also for the reccord i did do some research in to it but for some reason either my google fu is broken or i did there's not much info on the web cause i came up short...

Getting to the point , i have just joined a high sec war dec / merc corp and im enthusiastic about it but the problem is my experience in high sec pvp is minimal and mostly revolves around suicide ganking and awoxing, also my corp members are strictly EU where I am everywhere tz wise so il be alone in most situations.

Now what id like to get from you is some general tips and guidelines on how to opperate, if you please.

Im familiar with the concept of watchlisting and running locator and i also know it will involve moving alot but what else is there?

Ideally ill be hunting people but gate camping tip is also apreciated.

So in a nutshell if you have any valuable knowledge you'd like to share , tactics , ships or even helpfull sites that would be awesome.

Thank you

PS and also disclaimer : As i mentioned im new in my corp so please do not take my rookie experience in high sec wars to compare with my corp mates overall experience and aptitude on the matter.

Just because i am blond does not make me stoopid !

Interesting point, I have stalked people to systems before. Its tricky though to find where they are are. are they in a station? in a complex? I hit the belts and see if they are mining there, but if they aren't... then what?. gate camps are boring and traps need intell. must be better ways to find and club careseals.

Will gank for food

this is where having put in hundreds of hours scanning down care bears to screw with comes in handyBlink

First point is learn to consolidate and work together, The allies/targets in your wars at the moment will give you a hard time and unless you adapt they could hurt you as a corp.

My first suggestion is a new corp cause learning this lifestyle 100% solo sucks. I promise it's a lot more fun with another guy on coms.

Noragens empire PvP tips and tricks
Wardec stuff
Use an out of corp (ooc) ALT and add all the corps you have decced and any allies they have to its standings
If you have a potentially active target in system dscan for a self named or likely named ship. After that drop combat probes and do a system wide scan if you can't narrow it with your d. Copy all ship scan results (I sort alphabetically by id) and paste it into the targets note tab on the profile. Begin to remove id's
A 15mil logi boat with a cap transfer can save your bacon if your ALT can keep one handy in regular hunting grounds
As a merc your honour is 100% based on contract fulfillment. Don't be afraid to 'play dirty'
Use ooc ALTs. It's the first and last thing here because it's that important
Generic empire PvP stuff
For systems that will take a long time to work out if your target is active invite to duel. 1of 3 things will happen
1 nothing at first followed by a rejection or acceptance- target is in space
2 target is auto declining duels- target is in space
3 can not find target in current system- target is docked or no longer in system
Go learn suspect mechanics before you get welped by em
Not everything is a trap. There really are autopilot incursion fit vindis out there... but everything else is a trap
Boosts increase your effectiveness by like 80% before diminishing returns on active fits or fits getting repped. They are stupidly op. Get em on your side if you can
Learn how to bump. Its not just a station thing
If you don't have a weapons timer you can dock and jump gates. You can also stash your ship in a orca or bowhead... baw are the ******* masters of this something something baw rabble rabble
You didn't disconnect, you didn't get a 30 second lag spike. If you die simply gf in local no matter how pissed you are. If you did DC refer to the start of this sentence.
Get your pod out. It's 100% possible unless somebody is a pick like me and brings some smart bombs along while holding prey down.

Carry every utility module you might conceivably need in your cargohold.

Nothing will make you feel like a total moron quite like showing up to kill a mission runner, only to find out he's in something you can't lock before he can warp off, or is MJD fit. Carrying a racially appropriate ECCM, sensor booster (with scripts), extra warp scrambler and warp disruptor in your cargo hold will save you endless embarrassment.

When you get one jump out of your target and have eyes on it with your neutral scout refit as required.

Also the primary is N1ghtw1ng.

*This is all based off of my own opinions, preferences, and experiences*

Highsec Wars are a lot of fun... depending on your style and what you look to get out of them, they can also be not so much fun. I enjoy the thrill of the hunt, and I'm not looking for a fair fight. I intentionally seek out the weak and easily manipulated in an attempt to break them down and achieve my goals. I mostly operate alone or with a very small (1-2 group of friends) and it's much more rewarding than being in some huge organization that doesn't put their own personal touch on the wars.

Don't shy away from "underhanded" tactics like using a neutral alt to join you corp while in space in a pod, board a combat ship, and point the unsuspecting victim while your main is on the other side of the gate (oops).

Your question regarding how to hunt and find people isn't the easiest to answer as there are many ways and many different situations you will find yourself in, but I can give you an example:

- You're hunting a WT running missions in a faction battleship. You have located him and note that it's the home of a L4 security agent. You move your neutral scout there to get eyes on him while your main stays back and out of the way. You wait for him to take a mission that takes him 1-2 jumps away and if possible, find a way to jump in the agents system behind him without going through his current system. Wait for him to finish the mission and he'll make his way back to the agent, and that's when you smash him on the gate (learn how to bump).

Ship Recommendations:

- T3 Destroyer
- HAC (Sacrilege)
- T3 Cruiser (HAM Legion is <3)

I suggest you find a small group that actually hunts targets (everyone says they hunt, but you need to see through the lies and find the few that really do). If you surround yourself with people that are good at what they do, the knowledge and experience will come. I've moved on to a more "emergent" style of gameplay, but if you want I will shoot some idiots with you.

This one in particular should be of particular interest to OP.

Developing a quality target list was always the biggest challenge, the rest is a repeatable-process of murders. You can go Marmite-style and just wardec half of EvE, but that can be...expensive...

For CEO's without a wardec warchest you will want to scout for potential targets by parking on egress points into the trade and level-4 mission hubs looking for dudes in loot-piniata's. Whenever a dude in a marauder, T3 or battleship goes by, examine his corp/alliance -- how old they are, number of members, and killboard for where they operate.

Merc's are also a pretty promiscuous lot, they examine other well-known mercs past war histories for good targets to harvest additional kills from.

I..did not say these things...I...was never here.

Looks like I got to this thread a little late and most of the good stuff is covered by these fine respectable gentlemen.

I've just actually decided to take a break from the merc stuff for awhile to play with some other friends, but I've been doing it for awhile. On that note, when you are having trouble finding a target in a system this is generally my approach.

1. Double check the stations using your scout. I always bring up my agent finder ingame and check to see if there is a lvl 4 agent in the system and check that station first. then move on to lvl 3 stations. This is especially helpful when you get systems with 6-7 stations.
2. You should be D-scanning constantly incase you manage to find the idiot in a self named ship while your looking through stations
3. While doing 1. and 2. I open the map on my hunter and check the area and where connecting gates lead (if I don't know the area well). I am also checking where the closest lvl 4 mission agent is if its not inside the system the target is in. This process is to determine where he will most likely go if he happens to jump out of system while you are searching for him. Often you can loop around through a few systems to get in the path of where you think he will go.
4. Assuming he is not in a station, you want to know what hes most likely flying. Do a quick killboard search if you haven't already. I tend to do this on my way to the target though. I often find some useful info on what the target is most likely flying. For example if hes only got kills or deaths in Gallente and Caldari ships you start scanning for those first.
5. Probes baby. If you think hes missioning there, go and park your alt outside the lvl 4 station. He might just come back while your probing. Start the probing process and if you can multitask enough start noting the names of other peoples ships coming and going so you can quickly filter those out.
6. Pretending we have found one in a mission, I always warp my scout (cloaky probe Proteus) in at range. Sometimes you land on a gate but sometimes you land directly in the mission. If your going for warpins ensure you watch out for LCO's that may not be on your overview to decloak you. As it's been suggested already, sometimes its best to wait, sometimes not. I've had plenty of instances where waiting has meant the target docking and logging after finishing that mission (bad timing FTL) but also plenty where rushing in from bad positions gives them enough time to get out.

Overall just keep experimenting. You'll learn just through repetition what you should be looking for, which targets are alert, use scouts etc and get a feel for things. Remember to be friendly and professional. I've had numerous targets come back to hire us later simply because they appreciated the way we've interacted with them.

I find it gets stale if I stay at it too long. I love to try new things and take on new challenges. But Highsec fights are still my favorite thing in eve. What have you moved on to? Enjoying it? But most importantly who is going to try and recruit me to FA now every time they do a joint op with Marmite (that isn't 3 bob damed AM in the morning)

Haha I'm going to 0.0 shortly. I've had an alt out there for 2 months now and we've been getting some great fights. I really want to brush up on my FC abilities and try out some nullsec hunting, but I fully instead to keep a jump clone down near lowsec so I can go out on roams with FA/Marmite groups and do some lowsec pvp too.

I'll always love merc stuff, but I find I need to switch main activities every year or two and seek a new challenge, and while I've been doing that with alts, I really wanted to bring Sahriah out to utilize her skill points properly. I'm really going to miss talking to clients and targets though.

I'm sure I'll run into you sometime ;)
