Ok, you got me... I laughed at this one. Well done, sir, well done.

Don't be silly! They're not insulting us, they're gently teasing us, in the manner of a rough-and-tumble household. After all, is not their entire purpose to uplift our souls and bring us to salvation? Are not the Amarr the bearers of the supreme burden, individually responsible for the deliverance of humanity unto God?

Every time one of us falls, unReclaimed and still damned, it is their failure, their sin. In their deepest hearts, they cannot possibly hold us as enemies... we are precious, treasures whose loss will weigh not only on them, stand as a black mark not only on their souls, but on all of their children, and their childrens' children, on down unto the very End of Time.

Insults and attacks that harden our hearts would only drive us further from God, work directly against their divinely-ordained goals... no, these cannot be insults. They must only be teasing, meant to remind us that though we and the Amarr have had our difficulties, and despite the fact that there are some lingering hurts from things said and done in the heat of the moment, that truly, we are all one great, numerous family, and that we'll eventually resolve our differences and come together in that glorious state that is the god-given birthright of all humanity.

But...but Naup, I've had all my shots and it rained on me just last week.

Does this mean you don't love me anymore?

Question

I may yet become desperate enough for a date with a girl that I accept even a Minmatar. But it would have to be a Minmatar whose hygiene is somewhat more substantial than rainwater.

I really tire of the insult war between the Amarr and Minmatar. Since I've began my service with the State Protectorate, I've found the Minmatar I've encountered to be admirable-- if sometimes devious-- warriors, and I've long had great respect for their ship designs even if they are not anywhere near as advanced as Caldari ships. The Rifter, though now outclassed in most combat in the cluster, is a masterwork of ingenuity that's a testament to their skill and intelligence.

I would caution our Amarr allies that to underestimate the enemy is folly. Respect their capabilities, and save the insults for the bar after you've got the killmail.

The desire for the insult war is mutual. It allows them to "put us in our place", and it lets us make the Empire look bad. I imagine it's therapeutic for both sides. I wouldn't call it friendly ribbing... I think it's more of a begrudging way to admit without admitting that the other side is still people and not just faceless evil/race to be enslaved. At least, I sort of see it that way.

Doesn't mean I've ever interfaced with a citizen of the Empire or Kingdom that wasn't the the most smug, proud, arrogant, condescending, shamelessly hypocritical, utterly-caught-up-in-their-own-hubris sob I've ever met. If I ever find an Amarrian who doesn't make me want to kick their face in after half-an-hour of conversation, I'll give them +10 standing, half the ISK in my wallet, and publicly announce to the whole IGS that I was a racist a**hole.

That said, the Gallente are their own brand of people whose faces I want to rearrange, but at least there's some that are willing to admit they're wrong and treat you with a decent amount of respect.

I admire the Caldari. You generally look down on everybody that's your boss, you, a member of your company, a member of your mega, a fellow Caldari, in that order, and you can be the most knee-jerkish people I've ever met, yet you're honest in how you view others. If I manage to earn your notice, and maybe, eventually, your respect, you'll give me every bit of it. I continue to enjoy serving with the CalMil.

As skin bacteria? No, that'd be too offensive to the skin bacteria.

You have to understand that for the Minmatar at large, the Ammatar are race traitors.

The Ammatar are to us what a True Amarr who runs off to be a Blood Raider is to you.

A Minmatar warship is like a rusting Beetle with 500 horsepower Cardillac engines in the rear, armour plating bolted to chassis and a M2 Browning stuck on top.

Hypocrisy is rife in New Eden.

Ultraviolet radiation kills bacteria. Therefore, in a natural environment, those who expose most of their skin to the sun are generally healthier than those who do not.

Of course, UV could also cause cancer, but evolution was kind enough to gift us with enough melanine to mitigate that.

Here, OP, have a like.

...On an almost unrelated note: have you ever been to one of those horrendous northern Sebiestor steam baths? There's a really weird traditional practice when one is first, well, nearly cooked to death in a room filled with hot steam, then flogged with branches of some native plant and, finally, thrown out from the building. Usually into the snow or ice-cold water.

I think it's a shadow remnant of a rite of passage of some sort.

But it's hard not to be squeaky clean afterwards.

Nah. It's not really a rite of passage remnant.

The steam baths are a means to clean one self and to engage in some bonding.

Also, we came from the mountains and the tundra, as you might recall. The steam kills bacteria as well as promote blood flow. After too much time spent in the frost, our blood vessels will contract to unhealthy levels. The steam fixes that. Also, it allows the participants to engage in some machismo.

The branch-lashing promotes blood circulation. It also allows participants to engage in some machismo.

Then we cool off in the cold water to cleanse ourselves of our sweat, to bring our blood vessels back to their rest-state width and to prevent heat stroke. Also machismo.
