...gives you almost 87 kEHP and 1034 m3 paper yield. Cold. Overheating hardeners will get you 93 kEHP for 2 and a half minutes.

Average ganking catalyst manage to deal about 7-8 kEHP before CONCORD comes. That catalyst costs about 9 milions including fitting. Gankers hate to lose ISK war, so even this camikadze pure yield fit:
[Procurer, Max yield]
Mining Laser Upgrade II
Mining Laser Upgrade II

Survey Scanner II
5MN Microwarpdrive II
Drone Navigation Computer I
Drone Navigation Computer I

Modulated Strip Miner II, Veldspar Mining Crystal I

Medium Drone Mining Augmentor I
Medium Drone Mining Augmentor II
Medium Drone Mining Augmentor II

Mining Drone II x5

will require 4 catalysts to kill you (29 kEHP, 1431 m3 yield). Gankers will lose up to 36 milions and your procurer with all the fitting is hardly worth that much. So you can see much less procurers killed in high sec comparing to other barges - it is cheap and tanked. Simply not worth it. But if you are in war or gave gankers reason to hunt especially you, you will be ganked no matter what tank you will use.

This is fit for newbie miner, that I would use:
[Procurer, Newbie]
Mining Laser Upgrade I
Mining Laser Upgrade I

ML-3 Scoped Survey Scanner
Medium Azeotropic Restrained Shield Extender
Limited Adaptive Invulnerability Field I
Limited Adaptive Invulnerability Field I

Strip Miner I

Medium Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I
Medium Anti-Thermal Screen Reinforcer I
Medium Core Defense Field Extender I

Mining Drone I x4
Mining Drone I x1
Hobgoblin I x 5

It gives you about 46 kEHP and about 900 m3 yield, depends on your skills. Need 5+ catalysts to get it down and is so cheap, that gankers will gank every single barge around you but not you.

This is great information and I appreciate your effort. I put on all shield tanks. I suppose you think it is a bad idea? I will put on armor rigs to beef that up.

Bad newbie! Bad!

Generally (as in, almost never), you don't want to 'dual tank'. You pick either shield, armor, or hull and stick to that, though there are a few niche PvP fits that dual tank. Quite simply, if you over tank, you're not going to be able to do anything.

Here is a recent article on the Mittani that covers this very concept.

Grrr.

Max tank fit posted is actually dual tanked. Shields and hull. Procurer gets bonuses for shield and less armor, than hull or shield. You will trade some yield for this. Not much, but still... Armor tank on Procurer is a bad idea cause it has least armor and no bonuses for it.

Behave yourself (like do not provoke CODE), mine is some calm place like Boillair or Odotte next to some juicy Exhumer and you are 99 % safe cause you are not worth the CONCORDANCE. Even with just shield tank.

Also are calling someone else a girl in a derogatory manner as if somehow being female is a lesser state?

It was just a question. Why are you getting defensive? By viewing avatars there seems to be large group of women playing this game and it surprises me. I wonder if that many females are playing or for some reason many guys are using female avatars.

On WOT, female players were uncommon. I do not know any women in RL that play MMO's. For that matter, I know few adults that play PC games in RL.

Fyi the eve community is predominantly adults,
most of the players I know both male and female have family's.

Bear this in mind.

I think the tank versus MLU question has been pretty well covered, but I wanted to comment on gender assumptions. Eve has one of the lowest percentages of female players of any decent sized MMO. That said, many players have characters of both genders. This is especially helpful when entering the scamming and corp infiltration sections of the game as female avatars often are more successful than male.

I get it. Is this because of the drawbacks of tanking in general? I looked at those rigs and they cause drawbacks on either velocity, which is already bad on this ship so that's a no, and cargo hold. My cargo hold is decent size and only used to hold the small items I salvage from my kills. So whats the big deal on that? This ship has a large ore hold so I don't really care about the size of the ship's cargo size.

I don't get it. If many pilots are a different sex than their avatars, the success rate of avatars based upon their sex is irrelevant. It is a bogus statistic. There is no connection.

As far as being the lowest female customer base, you've never played WOT. The boys go nuts those rare times a tanker claimed they were female.

I don't get your statement - "bear this in mind". Are you reading something bad into my comments too?

Do you really think there are entire families here? It doesn't matter to me and I've said nothing offensive. To be straight with you, I doubt there are many families here. It doesn't matter to me either way but I think EVE is filled with young men playing mostly. I know WOT was more than 80% filled with guys 20 years old and younger.

It's a widely known thing about the Eve player base. We old.

As to why are female avatars more successful as scammers/thieves/general miscreants, apparently boys who play video games are more willing to let their gaurd down for pictures of fake women than pictures of fake men. I blame the modeling industry and overuse of plastic surgery.

Soon we'll have players letting their guard down for women that are actually men and men that are actually women and cats that are actually fedos. I blame the Gallente and Bruce Jenner.
