Here's our quandary.

My father and I are opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of Eve and real life.

1. Me
I'm 46 years old, married, three kids (6-year-old twins, and a 5-year-old), own my own business. I've played Eve off and on for many years and have about 23,300,000 skill points. I'm cool with PVP, mining/hauling, small-gang roams, faction warfare, and other odds and ends. I am very self-sufficient, but like to work in groups and am definitely itching for fights. I can fly (but don't own) up to jump freighters (gallente) and can also fly a well equipped assault frigate, a decent stealth bomber, and some pretty decent T-1 battle cruisers/destroyers. Currently, the focus of my training has been on logistics.

I tend to be reliable and when I say I'm going to be there, I am there and prepared.

The drawback is my personal life is very busy. That limits my playtime and unexpected CTAs and unplanned ops can be very difficult for me to accommodate. Therefore, planning is pretty important to me. I'm also a bit social, so even if we're not in a fleet, I like chatty corps on voice.

I don't freak out about it, but like the foul language kept to a dull roar, hate drama, and have less than no patience internal strife and bickering.

My primary reason for leaving corps in the past is that they've not been what I thought they were going to be (one, a gallente fw corp, kept attacking fellow militia in null), or the corp changed in such a way that didn't align with what I wanted to do at the time.

2. Dad
Dad is retired - sort of. He messes around with a couple of part-time jobs when he's not fishing or he feels he's gotten on Mom's nerves enough. He does have time to commit. He's played the game off and on, but doesn't have a lot of SP, maybe 5 million. The reason he tends to wander away from the game is due to our challenge in finding a corporation that is on in force when he's on - which frankly could be from 8 or 9 a.m. to about 9 p.m. (we're CST). He likes voice comms because he wants to ask questions (and ask he will) rather than type questions and rather than do tons of research online.

We want to play together, but we've found it difficult in EVE because I'm not on as often as he, and as mentioned, we've found it difficult to find a corp on voice comms in a fairly consistent way.

Anyway, Dad's interests are mostly in mining and mission running. He says he's too slow for PVP, however, in any game he's played, he's always been a highly valued raid member, and I suspect if there is a corp that will work with him, he'll be a pretty valuable combat pilot.

We are looking for a corporation where we can play together, where we can both learn, and have a bit of fun. He'll probably be on more than me, but there may be periods he disappears (he and his brother tend to take off on fishing trips). The corp needs to be well organized and have a decent plan of operations - we can't plan to participate if we don't know it is coming. Gallente FW is fine. Probably need a combination of high/low/null operations. Patience with a retiree who wants to learn but is not going to sit down and read pages and pages of forum posts and recommended loadouts. Mining and industry would be a nice thing to have, but I suspect a combination of PVP and mission running (or ratting, incursions, etc.) would be pretty important to help us both get what we want.

I'm very willing to open some conversations to see if there a good home for us - one where we can really serve a corporation in a meaningful way while becoming better pilots, blasting and losing a few ships, and having a lot of fun.

Looks like you both would be great additions to a corp. I'd look to recruit you but we're only about pvp which wouldn't fit with the mining/mission bit. Can I recommend speaking to one of the guys in Umbra Syndicate? Really nice bunch of people based between high sec and wormholes that I believe would be perfect for what you're looking for - link

Good luck finding the right home.
