As you can't facepalm Eve in a week, it' s completely acceptable to take 2-3 months to master your first vessel.

I have read every post on this thread.
After all i had to since i started it.
! thing is quite obvious, in my opinion, that EvE NEEDS new players and having a skillpoint system that discourages or frustrates them doesn't help.
I also believe that old players can and should help CCP to take actions in that direction cause besides new players being easy enough targets in pvp they also can be disappointed in pve as well.
The question here is not if new implants or in case what kind of mechanics must be used but to make clear that something must be done. There is no way that these guys will ever catch up and that was not my intention at all. However i feel there must be a way to encourage and assist them understand and enjoy the game.

When I started, I was way behind. I accepted that and plowed on. Now I am one of those bitter vets. I would not have thought to ask that the rules be changed to suit me. The rules were the challenge.

Then again I like challenge. Very few MMOs offer it any longer. EVE has always been a niche game for folks who demand a more intelligent and complex (usually) playfield.

EVE is already vastly easier then it used to be. Many of the older players have left due to this. Any more tilting to the instant fulfillment crowd will quite certainly kill it.

You will never have enough SP and you will never catch up with those who started in 2003. No amount of help from CCP will change that. In the end you should be happy with the amount of SP you have, it's still a year's worth more then the guy who will start a year from now. Everyone, even the 2003 guy, had to start at one point and they gained SP a lot slower and harder.

Live with it or quit, same choice for everyone.

Obviously a couple of months intensive training or even 6 months will have no significant impact on the difference in SP between a 2003 character and a new player. This is not about closing the gap. It is also not about increasing the starting SP, no to that either. SP should be earned "the hard way" with time spending and experience (also vital) gained through hours of game play. Also giving a big amount of SP as a starting point has no sense of achievement for the player and it is also unfair for older characters.
What i am trying to say is give new players the motivation and a kind of reward both as something they can capitalize on and the sense of a reward for joining.Allow them to be able to start doing in game things faster so they can have more fun earlier in the game.
Thats all.

Skill training to surpass vets is meaningless, huh?

WHAT DO YOU KNOW OF MEANINGLESS? SPEND MOST OF YOUR LIFE RULED BY ANOTHER. WATCH YOUR RACE DWINDLE TO A HANDFUL - AND THEN, TELL WHAT HAS MORE MEANING THAN YOUR OWN STRENGTH?

I have in me the blood of a Saiyan prince - he is nothing but a joke! But I've had to watch him surpass me in strength - my destiny, thrown to the wayside! He has stolen my honor... and his debts, must be paid!

A new character will never "catch up" the total SP of a veteran.
But you don't need to "catch up", you need to fly ships.
So stop looking to 100M SP players, and start looking to yourself.

But even now there still are problems.
Training racial frig and one weapon systems doesn't take "so much" time.

But you have to train Engineering, Navigation, Neural Enhancement, or even your tech one frig will be subpar.

And this will take a lot of time!
