Let me start with a quote

Quote:
There is no more Jesus feature

This single sentence has several aspects which can be discussed.
At the first look it tells us that it is getting harder to draw players to a game, which is a fact seen in the current game industry as a battle for sub numbers. With a little deeper look this sentence might be a little frightening.

Several years back it was pure excitement which draw people to a game once they saw new pictures and ideas in an advertisment. Eve a Space sandbox. Quake a game for " the entire family" (this was the actual marketing strategy for quake). It was an adventure to get into a new game.

Isn't the sentence and the commitment to excellency something which will kill innovation. What is innovation?
I want to get some discussion rolling about

Excellency vs Innovation

Are both contradicting. Is fanatasy and Innovation at it limits in game industry. What techniques you do use to be creative and what do you want for the future of eve?

Post Scriptum / clarification:

The above quote is not known by all players of eve. It is from the past CSM meeting and made by CCP CEO Hilmar. It was made in the context that there is no feature which will draw thousands of players into a game without much effort.

Start to begin with putting quotes into context.
Where is the context where your quote is ripped from?

Once you have done that, we may have a discussion.

I think there is some sort of code in the spelling mistakes......

If googling on "Jesus feature" results in only one computer related reference on the first results page (and that reference is to a weak sauce blog,) then it's probably not a common software term.

tl;dr What's the proper advertising term for a super spectacular feature that will draw in consumers? Holy grail? Must-have?

Actually, you need to add the whole quote really so that people understand what you're on about in the OP.

Hilmar was on about a design cycle which was focusing trying to create a new bigger thing to draw people in on a regular basis, which is actually a bit of a fallacy as not only will you run out of things to do without breaking the core product, it does nothing to help with player retention.

The reality is that Eve is a semi-niche game and is perfectly sustainable with a continuous development cycle focusing on adding small amounts of new content while improving and refining existing content. Not only that, but this method allows the product to sing its own praises to a certain extent and is much better for player retention.

You could liken the whole "Jesus feature" to the Tortoise and the Hare story. With the latter being the "Jesus Feature", capable of quick boosts, but not right for the long haul.

Taking OP's intent literally I personally think CCP could easily "Jesus Feature" in the future. It just needs ideas and ideas take time (and money) to turn into a reality.

A discussion yesterday about capacity talked about the number of systems on TQ. There's scope for more, much more.

And then there's Jovian space or CCP going feral and a few other things that might, just might make a few players go "JESUS!!!'

The Fat Lady is still sitting in my book. (although when she farted everyone went JESUS!!!).

The OP seemed to go for a few things, I read that games have things to offer to draw people in. Like a grand opening of a store brings people in. Hilmar says CCP doesnt have enough to do a grand opening now. OP wants to know how will CCP bring people in then.

Blizzard keeps adding things by first subtracting them. So CCP could cut out Faction warfare to add something new to the game then more play. If the more new people is greater then FW people who left, CCP made profit. That is blizz dawg though.

Way I see it CCP doesnt have resources same as you would say europe right now doesnt have resources and people are afraid europe will crash and not be able to support itself.

Both CCP and Europe could live on and do well, but right now its extremely hard to really.
