Mobile Manufacturing - A Presentation on New Industrial Ships

Greetings Capsuleers! I wanted to inform you of a recent presentation thread on new industrial class ships in the Features & Ideas Forum.

Mobile Manufacturing

The bare bones summary of this thread is the introduction of two sets of new types of ships - Mobile Manufacturing Ships and Mobile Reprocessing Ships.

Mobile Manufacturing Ships (MSS)

These ships contain manufacturing lanes that enable production in space. The purpose of the ships is multiple, but the most important advantage is the ability to produce in-space, and thus not need station lane manufacturing. The details of how these ships behave and are balanced are in the thread. There are three variants, one standard Industrial and then two Capital-Industrials that mimic the same ideology behind the Orca and Rorqual.

Mobile Reprocessing Ships (MRS)

These ships are advanced industrial ships that enable modules, compounds, ore, ice, etc. to be reprocessed in space. The ships are not as efficient as stations (with standings), but enable reprocessing to take place in the field. There are two ships, Tech I and Tech II, the Tech II having improved refining efficiency and slightly more cargo space.

WHY?

These ships are designed to enable a total manufacturing loop in space - in other words, for the first time ever a truly nomadic playstyle is possible for a corporation. As of now, the only way to manufacture goods is through POS or Stations - the same applies to reprocessing to gain minerals. These ships have many other inherent trade values and will benefit high-sec all the way to w-space, and everything in between. Please view the thread for more information and - as asked there - give your feedback or ideas!

I will occasionally bump this thread to garner more interest, but I will not be replying to questions directly. Please take your discussions to the actual thread. Thank you!

Why would you report this?

I find it interesting as a trader who manufactures.

In light of this potential problem - Developers and GM's, if you feel this is thread is inappropriate for the marketing community, please lock the thread - don't move it to F&I as that would just create a redundant thread and give the impression of trolling the idea. Thanks.

Relative to Mr. Nelson - I posted this in the market discussion as, just as Anshiliu pointed out, many traders manufacture as well and I feel they'll find this thread very interesting and of importance to them. If you have a direct conflict with the idea (you don't like it, unbalanced, w/e) please post in the actual thread your feedback - or report it if you think it's a truly awful idea. I would like a CCP'er to see it sooner than later after all...Roll

I reported this because putting the exact same thread in 4 or so forum is a little redundant isn't it?

This is by no means the entire thread - as the link will clearly show. It is an advertisement of that thread, and I placed it in the four forums it applied to best. I could have very well posted in all forums, no?

Not everyone has the time to read every forum.

Most will only read what they think is relevant to them. ie I dont read anything other than this one and I'm sure some in General discussion don't read marketing. I'm glad he is trying to get his idea out there.

Cross posting is bad.

Well as pointed out elsewhere, if you wish the thread to be buried do not post to it - or report it as Mr Nelson has. I don't hold anything against you, but I do wonder why people would rather post their opinion of not liking a thread...rather than just reporting it the first time as Mr. Nelson did and leave it at that.

I didn't say anything about the content of the thread. But, posting a thread or a link to a thread from a different forum is cross posting and that is not acceptable. I'm not sure why you thought this thread deserved special consideration.

Well I can answer that - I think it's a very special thread! In all seriousness I'm looking for as much feedback as possible and know that many players do not read the features and ideas forum, probably because they rarely hear anything of it. Again, I intended this only as an advertisement.

I would ask that you explain why cross-posting is bad though? Is there an actual forum rule related to that - and if there is I'm very sorry and will have no qualms with a report shutting this thread down. Do please take the time to read the F&I thread and, if you have an opinion or feedback, please post! Thanks.

From the forum rules:

Redundant threads will be deleted.
As a courtesy to others before beginning a new thread, please look to see if an active thread on that topic has already been established. If so, place your comments there instead. Multiple threads on the same subject clutter up the forum needlessly and many good ideas may be lost. Keep discussions about one topic to one thread only.

Very well, I'm very sorry to have bothered you in your forum. Hopefully folks will see this as it waits for a lock then. I do hope the folks of marketing take the time to read the thread and give it some consideration. Thanks!
