And if the drifters just tried to assinate the 'Other' that obviously means that is not who they were working for. However they also desecreted Jovian graves for thier flesh so it doesn't seem like thier working for them either. And how does Sansha tie into all this?

Found out next week on Eve Online: The Drifter Saga

Likely.

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

Why?

Again, quoting others.
Quote:
Tony Gonzales was the writer of The Empyrean Age and Templar One, and had a significant influence on the storyline around the Empyrean Age era. His ideas for EVE were of a much more black and white universe, where Amarr were the villains and Gallente and Minmatar were the heroes. He created the whole Karsoth arc, Jamyl's return from the dead + Other, the superweapon, Tibus Heth, the Broker, and so on. His style of storytelling turned EVE away from a gritty and realistic universe of gray moralities on all sides into a black and white space opera. He also frequently ignored established lore and failed to do research, creating many inconsistencies. CCP eventually got rid of Tony G after a lot of backlash from the playerbase, and they have been working to undo his story arcs for years (such as removing Tibus Heth two years ago).

Most significantly, in my opinion, was the fact that Tony G was extremely anti-Amarr and anti-religion. All of his writings noteably treat Amarr/religious characters extremely poorly: They are either crazy evil fanatics, atheists only pretending to believe, or if they actually are good and wholesome faithful he has them converted away from Amarr for completely arbitrary reasons. His writing was also extremely sexist and very disturbing and poorly thought out in a lot of other ways.

Basically, Tony G was the Incarna of lore. He was the thing that happened that embarrassed and shamed CCP, and it's something they want to distance themselves from and never do again. Ergo, they are not going to replace one [mess up] with another. The most likely outcome of all these developments is either
A) Jamyl gets saved from the Other and becomes a wholesome empress (with her cloning either remaining unchallenged or, potentially, the TC removing the Sacred Flesh doctrine entirely), or
B ) Jamyl is removed, and a Succession Trial occurs between the legitimate Heirs, ending with a proper, legitimate emperor on the throne.

What is a sure thing, though, is that Max Singularity will not be made emperor. It would undo all of their attempts to fix the lore.

I doubt CCP wants to get rid of the "Other". Hilmar's ideas on VR are quite special and EVE is a part of his vision. Societies living in VR and how VR infests reality it's just a essential part of the EVE lore.

Remember: at one point, a chronicle pointed the possiiblity that capsuleers became inmaterial beings existing only in the transfer space and yet with a firm grasp on physical reality. As if they incarnated the will of superior beings outside of the universe, like players playing a game...

The Others, however, aren't necessary for the Sleepers to have their construct.

The Other and Others are, instead, very much a Matrix-y 'Agent Smiths rise up' sort of thing, and the Sarum-Other has no particular depth or history that we know of.

Given that the Empress is going to be replaced through a pvp tournament where players fight as champions on behalf of a potential replacement, which will culminate in the finals at next Fanfest, I don't think it likely we'll see The Other back anytime soon.

Just a guess of course, but it would seem unlikely that The Other would be able to infect/blend with the unknown victor, not at least until after Fanfest and then whatever inauguration happens.

So basically CCP is trying to drive out Tony G's lore because the Amarrians are being whiny babies about being portrayed as what they are.

Moar like CCP doesn't want the amarrians to look like the WH40k imperium going full ****** with HERESY, KILL(enslave) ALL XENOS(other races) and MUH INQUISITION.

Could easily have created new lore to showcase other sides of the fictional cultures and races rather than simply doing all that they can to delete the old stuff.

That said,

Midular was murdered.

Heth was hunted down.

The Empress was ganked.

If I was Roden or Foiritan, I'd be watching my back. I sense a pattern emerging.

I hope to be edition "A"
Jamyl gets saved from the Other and becomes a wholesome empress.
Without it, the world would be an empty symbol she EVE universe.

That quote was written before her assassination. She is dead as part of removing Tony G's writings.
