Just had a crazy thought, what if the Drifters only attacked/possibly killed Jamyl to free the 'Other' from inside, her then convert her body to a drifter. Effectively restore her, their leader was basically stuck in her brain.

Thoughts?

End of Empire...

I was under the impression that the "Other" was an opposing force to the drifters as well?

A concerted effort like this certainly looks like a targeted assassination, the "Other" was a huge potential threat to everyone.

Either way, last time I checked Jamyl was a pod pilot, she was cloned (which is highly illegal for Imperial royalty, they're supposed to die on natural death), so there's every possibility that she is alive, just in what state is a different matter altogether.
She's no longer Empress, that much is certain.

However given the kind of mess the Royal Succession generally is, it could take a while before a new Emperor is appointed.

What I'm saying though is if we know so little about the Drifters being the are borg like and have never seen them before who knows what there intentions are. All we know is they are made from jove bodies. That doesn't mean their minds are thinking as Jovians, they could be under the possession of someone else kind of life True Slaves. I'm suggesting they are, and that they are all umber the guidance of the Other(s).
