Yeah, those guys totally used your PLEX pieces or ISK you've exchanged it for directly to assemble ship replacement for you.

"Their" model doesn't have industry.

I am yet to see swaths of new players join the game (like after BR-5) because they saw a dank industry video on youtube.

Really? I actually quite liked E:D. So far I've spent $60 on it, which is an embarrassing fraction of the total I've spent on EVE. I've had fun in EVE, but regret most of the money I've spent on it. I've had a tremendous amount essentially wasted by changes made by CCP (I used to pay subs on 16 accounts, ISBoxer). I suppose I have no one but myself to blame for that, but it should at least explain why I feel like E:D delivers far for fun-per-dollar (or whatever your currency is) than EVE.

how do you figure, i cant even figure out the control or how to operate the menus. they give no explaination as to how to do anything. waste of money in my book total time in ED 10 mins total time in eve 7+ yrs

Honestly, I think issue is you, not Elite.

It is very easy to learn, there are even tutorials...

And only 10 mins to give it a try??? WTF are you youngsters nowadays made of??? Lol

My experience is that people just stumble on EvE, and then few likes it and stay.

Also, it is still summer, so CPU numbers are usually down at this time of the year.

Would not make too hasty assumptions about one EvE trailer.

lol 10 mins? Elite certainly takes longer than that.....that being said though, the biggest complain I've seen on the ED reddit and elsewhere is boredom, because unlike EVE, it has no long-term growth. You can get into a vulture (basically the ED equivalent of a pre-nerf ishtar) in a matter of days.

I also though that ED was a good alternative to Eve... until I played it.
A dumbed down version of Elite 2, by the model, with a LOT of grind. Of course this game is pretty but the gameplay is shallow.

Yeah Eve have some grind too, but also many means to circumvent it and it is more funny since other players surround you.

But grind alone was nothing until Powerplay came. If you though that grinding standing was boring, just try Powerplay in ED, it has the palm.

I don't think I will buy the DLC with planetary landing, it isn't the new Elite I waited for so long.

So yeah, back on Eve since 1 month and I don't regret it.

People don't have a problem paying for DLC, the problem is when the initial game you paid for isn't nearly finished/up to scratch and you are already being asked to shell out.

Sounds like a personal problem tbh. I guess Elite is too Elite for you.

I did, although it was not youtube. Stayed for different reasons, though they don't have anything to do with 12 hour long F1 pressing session.
By the way. I am still waiting for you to refute my points in that thread of yours.

True... I know something of this also.

But it kinda amazes me that so far in this thread only I have mentioned that one can actually play EvE for "free" after first payed month:

Just few days per month orbiting FW timers in a cheap frig (hull only even).

Well, I like to smuggle slaves, guns and drugs, and then I like to hunt pirates for fun. When I want to chill I go exploring.....
ED is a fun game. But I wanted to try EvE now as well, so here I am. Can I use my Rift headset here too?

Not in EvE, perhaps in future when/if Valkyrie comes out, but it will be separate game though.

Mmm.

But how likely are you to play ED for the next 12 years?

Very likely. Played casually for the last year already, exploring away (something i really miss in EVE), and all the expansions and plans just seal the deal for me :)

If you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all...

I bought ED and an Oculus Rift DK2 in beta. I have to say the experience was stunning. It totally blew me away. But after about six weeks once the novelty of immersion had worn off, my only feelings were nausea, neck pain and eye strain. I don't think the technology is quite there yet. It needs higher resolution, 140hz displays and more lightweight materials I think. If like me you used to get car sick when you were a child, you'll probably get car sick in ED with a Rift. Being inside a rotating station ... baaarf ...

With respect to the game itself it was an empty shell with little to no actual content. There's no reason to play it except to experience VR with a Rift and I highly recommend that alone for the experience.

Eve is also largely boring I think but it's easier to dip into and out of than ED. You've got SP invested in your characters so you stick around.

You should try dog fights in Star Citizen: Arena Commander with the Rift. You think you were car sick with ED? This will make you feel like you have vertigo symptoms :) Once you get used to the experience, it gets a little easier on you.
