Any way to play earlier versions of eve?

I was looking back at old expansions for eve and watched youtube videos of eve circa 2004.

Is there anyway we can play these expansions offline? For example EVE after the Caster (2003) expansion. Just to see what eve was like?

Besides, EVE is not much of a game without all the people.

CCP - Building ant hills and magnifying glasses for fat kids

Not even once

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

Oh I don't know about that, you could do missions and mine uninterrupted to your hearts content :)

True, but it would take an insanely longer amount of time to get anything worthwhile done because there would be no economy, ships or fittings on the market without the other players around to produce goods.

I hear the Vatican has a time machine hidden in its catacombs (It's on the internet so it must be true).

So maybe you could ingratiate yourself with the Pope and get sent back to a better time. When men were men and Tranquility had 5k players logged in on a good day.

With CCPs track record if they ever released the Castor version on EVE they would some how make it live on Serenity by mistake.

Well it has a security system in place.

I did google it, and it is true. It was invented by a Benedictine monk in 1950 and they used it to film Christ's crucifixion.

This makes me wonder. They did not use it to save Jesus, but they made a snuff film instead!

It's not a time machine. It's a time-viewer. It doesn't transport you through time, it only lets you view events through time... like the movie "Paycheck"

Meh, Why you wonna play 2004 Eve? Eve was at it's best in 2012.

but if it's any consolation, know there's a version of existence where whatever changes you disapprove of never took place, and there's a you right now logged in enjoying the version of EvE you wish this version of you could be enjoying right now!

I really want a single player ship spinner with the old graphics and stuff.

some of that old stuff was just pretty. then again some of it just looks better due to nostalgia.

I think your best bet is to get a job at CCP - I remember reading a dev post once saying they have all the old expansions available for reference.

Every now and again I install EVE from the 2003 CD, just to watch the login screen. The music and logo takes me back.
Sadly you can't log on, but if you click connect you hear the old voice. Oh the nostalgia!!

You can see the log in screens on Youtube, starts with Eve the second genesis.

Yes. If you google it, you'll find a sourceforge-version of EVE Online for private servers. It's an older version of EVE since the last update was somewhere between 2013 and 2014. So exactly what you want. Only drawback: EVE Online without players can be a lonely, forboding place.

That's one of the things about computer games and historians of the future.

If they want to replicate what a single-player game did, emulator. Problem solved.
With multiplayer online games, it gets much messier. Eventually EVE will die, maybe this year, maybe in 50-and someone in the future will be curious about why it kept showing up in the news.
