Can you not assign drones to another pilot even when you are on grid in lowsec?

You can. They need to be in your fleet with you though.

Not sure of the mechanics, but if you have your safeties on green and try to assign your drones to a red or yellow flashy then it may not work. I'm not that familiar w/ the limitations of green safeties, better to not use the green setting - it just causes problems.

you should be able to asign drones to anyone in your fleet as far as i know, only problem in low-sec is that those drones will be attacking only valid wartargets - so they wont do anything to (flashy) neutrals if they are asigned
