I'll see EVE advertising on a computer that has EVE installed, but...

So, I'll see EVE advertising on the internet on a computer that has EVE installed, but not on one that doesn't have EVE installed. I'm not sure what kind of advertising idea this is, but it sounds like someone that only advertises a new car to someone that recently bought a new car, but neglects the rest of the consumer base.

Gotta get the EVE logo and description to new eyes and hearts to get new players, not just advertise to your current playerbase.

meh, ads don't work. It's either gotta be pre-launch hype (which often are just bad games now) or accolades for older games. Ad's are for crappy games that need to sell entry up front to break even after launch production. The thing that use to do it were expansion sales off the shelf. But no one has shelves for PC games any longer. So maybe steam powered and sites like that. Then gamer websites that do biased awards. But the #1 draw to older games are from happy vets that understand the game and recommend it to others. Ad's are a waste.

Awareness, exactly. If someone's not aware of EVE, then they're not likely to come make a new character and start playing. Word of mouth also has its place,and provides a boost, but not enough to displace other advertising.

But I don't know that these kinds of suggestions are noted up the CCP chain or not... What?

You see ads base don site you visit. Unless its say a youtube ad then i think thouse work slightly different.

Its like i always laugh when someone complains about going to like a site on kids products and seeing AFF ads... well thats cause someone in your house when to AFF...

neh, because I use ABP too. Who doesn't? Ad block stuff comes with some browsers now. I don't mind some ad's, but I've had browser highjacks happen through ads before so I block them like the plague.

Games and mmo's are totally different than running Pepsi ads. This really isn't a consumer product that you just put billboards up for. Generally the type of player that plays EVE is smart, not some couch potato watching reality shows 24/7. These are players that most likely have had a history with playing mmo's, and are well connected with at least one gaming site such as Steam etc. Those are places where players actively search thru game listings, as well as talk to other people about games worth trying. Ads are nothing, even annoying.
