No, I am just really that space isk poor...
If you're serious about wanting to compete, I'll deposit 50M with Leto or his third party, whichever is applicable, to cover the entrance fee for the first series that you enter.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

We have used Chribba up to this point. I'd like to change over to someone in-house, but I'm not sure how that will go.

I suppose I could do it. People trusted me with several bil to buy noobs ships (1.5 bil left and rising... wait what) so what's a few hundred mil lol

The "Special People" Thunderdome category will be added for space cripples such as yourself eventually. Don't fret.

Would be a nice opportunity for someone to start building trust and even if it failed, each contestant is only risking 50m which is significantly less than what they are fielding.

I'd offer, but I'm only well known in NCQA, not C&P. Big smile

Thank you.

Im fine with losing a round of faction/t2 frigs
Then a t1/navy cruiser round
Then a t1 battlecruisers round
Then even a damn t1 battleship round.

But when you gotta bring gilas or ishtars or command ships or orthurs to compete its kinda a Pay to Even Participate Competition

Cheaper fit won

Cheaper hull won (I can't comment on the fit because I didn't fly it)

Cheaper fit won

Cheaper fit won (by a long shot I'd imagine)

Thunderdome is replete with victories by less expensive vessels. In particular, the most expensive fit that I think I've seen to date (the last link above) lost.

ISK doesn't buy victory, and in the cruiser round a sub-100mil navy faction cruiser hull would likely take you a long way. Admittedly, the battleship round will be considerably pricier, but even a fully insured T1 battleship can likely stand toe-to-toe with faction battleships if the theorycraft behind it is strong enough.

This is being addressed in future brackets. not because of cost but because some hulls are simply so overpowered. (Which probably drives the cost up, but chicken, egg, yeah.)

I guess my point is...stick around and see what we come up with next. We're learning as we go and tweaking things to make it better. Our goal, despite some shiptoasting to the contrary, is to be as inclusive as possible. I personally would like to see a bracket dedicated entirely non-faction, vanilla T1 hulls. Again, not because of the cost, but to push limits on what people can come up with (although the lower cost to participate is certainly a benefit).

I lost the Orthrus to a Cerb you twatwaffle. I couldn't even catch or even land a hit on it because he MWD fitted probably with Snakes and I was 100mn fitted with crystals.

If General Terms the kill wouldn't have happened because he was 100km + from me the entire fight, but in the rules set and abided by he won.

And the Cerb fit was entirely T2/Meta4.

So please stop shiptoasting.

EDIT: Also if you can't field a 700mil cruiser for the fun on it, then your really not playing EVE right. I can make over 1 bil in a week without ever undocking. And that me being lazy about it.

I also lost an oruthus to a cerb. Same way too.

ISK doesn't buy victory. If you compare thunderdome to a billionaires hunting club, you are welcome to abstain from participating.

I can volunteer to hold iskies in the future as well.

I consider everyone in C&P community blues except for the obvious ones (Veers, Anslol, etc) and I don't screw blues, ever.
When I say I'll be honest, I will be honest. When I'm planning on not being honest, I don't say anything.

Here, I will be honest.

I also handled 10 bill in prize money for Carlvagio, feel free to contact him to confirm.

I'm also fine with Noragen doing it.

I'll hold any isk that needs held. I'll also just outright pay the entrance fee for the space poor urchin that was being discussed above. As to my honesty... I put up 500mil to the winner of the last thunderdome and made good on that. I've also put up a faction something or other for the winner of this.

As to pay to win and rules.... Being a C&P sponsored event it was made clear in an earlier thread that it's not to be about a complex set of rules. It's to be about all that has made the fortunes of the various folks that call this forum section home - cunning, guts, skill, wits and an outright lack of regard for conformity.

If anyone truly feels out isked and unable to participate, send me a mail and I'll give you some pointers and such to help you get through.

I'll give you an opinion while I'm up on my soap box. Winning the event is what I would consider and unfortunate consequence of the necessity of a bracket providing a reasonable way to procede from beginning to end. I'm putting up prizes for the winners just to generate more interest. Don't make it about winning. Watch the videos and read the battle reports - THAT is what this is about. Thunderdome - 2 guys in 1 guy out. The meat of this event is in each individual fight and the entertainment we all get from it.

To that end I'm now moved to present 4 prizes from my prize locker.

Bracket Winner - some frigate - determined by the bracket
Best Fight Winners - cruisers(2) - determined by some unfair form of group voting
Best Content of the Event - BS - determined by secret discussion between Mo and Leto

I'm now satisified with my thunderdome prize offerings. I'll detail out the hulls and other knick knacks before it's all over. Any and all issues with my prize scheme can be mailed directly to Bronson.
