What is wrong with a simple "smoothly"?

Wouldn't that mean the exact opposite?

Ran the beta of 8 that was released to the public a few months back. Eve ran just fine on it, however the video drivers and other hardware drivers had to be forced into submission to work.

So if your question is serious, Eve runs on Windows 8 (beta) just as well as it runs on Windows 7. (Assuming you get your drivers working.)

Also, for what it's worth the Windows 8 "Metro" interface is terrible and makes me want to punch baby jesus.

It's kind of serious. Third-party driver issues for a beta are to be expected, but if that's the only real bump in the road, we're pretty much set.

Apparently, Metro will be optional for anything that's not sporting a touchscreen. It can be disabled with a registry hack in the current preview aswell.

I just hope what i heard is true :/

I would say that EvE runs better on Win 7 than DOS. I am positive on that one.

Very well, actually.

I played for a few months on the Win8 Dev Preview.

The thing about Metro... after a few days, when I would wake the PC (sleep / wakeup times are aewsomely short) I would simply hit the desktop button on the Metro UI and then ignore it completely.

Win8 is going to be an odd release. For most users, as functionally there is very little difference from Win7, there is absolutley no reason at all to upgrade.

But... but... the metro interface is so useful for a desktop with its touchscreen feature !

Runs smooth as silk. I swore XP was the best but Windows 7 64-bit is now.

Tried Windows 8 but it feels stopgap like Vista.

Windows 7 is a beautiful OS, and Skyrim will work under windows 7 :

Minimum System Requirements

* OS: 7/Vista/XP PC (32 or 64 bit)
* CPU: Dual Core 2.0GHz or equivalent processor
* RAM: 2 GB
* HDD: 6 GB
* Graphics: 512 MB card
* Sound Card: DirectX 9 Compatible
* DirectX: Version 9.0c
* Internet for Steam activation

Recommended System Requirements

* OS: Windows 7/Vista/XP (32 or 64 bit)
* CPU: Quad-core Intel or AMD CPU
* RAM: 4 GB
* HDD: 6 GB free disk space
* Graphics: 1 GB Graphics Memory
* Sound Card: DirectX 9 Compatible
* DirectX: Version 9.0c
* Internet for Steam activation

Supported Graphics Cards:

Minimum – nVidia GeForce 8800 / ATI Radeon HD 3850
Recommended -Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 or higher; ATI Radeon 4890 or higher

The thing about Win 7 is its already awesome out of the box, but if you tweak it.....It really takes off. Its the fastest OS I've ever used everything is instant [system depending]

You will not regret Win 7 it makes Vista look like Win ME [really F'in bad for those that don't know]

One problem I found with Win 7 and EVE before my original PC crashed, was that forever, it seemed, Win 7 had the irritating desire to rewrite all content of every installation of EVE, no matter whether the installation folders were named differently or even placed in seperate locations. This made having seperate installations for EVE and SiSi next to or effectively impossible.

I tried more than a few different methods of preventing this, but I think the issue hinges from the fact that Win 7 installs the primary game files in User/Apps/Temp/something or other in a hidden archive. This means that all shared resources are without differentiation in windows, and one install will overwrite the shared resources completely.

Unfortunately, those resources are cached regardless of shutdown and reboot, so there really is no way around it that I've found. Installation or repair of one simply breaks the other.

Windows 8 is in alpha developer phase now, not beta until February

Personally I'd just stick with XP unless you're buying a new PC.Ugh

LOL@XP!

XP is total garbage compared to 7, and support will run out very soon.

Nowadays we have average of 6 gigabytes of ram, it doesn't matter at all how much ram OS uses since 2 gigabytes of ram costs like $20.. You can have mobo that has 16 gigabytes of ram with less than $200...

XP is so 1999...

This question doesn't really apply anymore.

I have some friends who tell me they're afraid to get new games because they're not sure if it works on W7. No, I don't think Skyrim works on Windows 7 guys, kinda common sense really. Wait for a patch.

At least for me, Skyrim did work on Windows 7 from day one, first patch made it a bit worse (more crashed) but 2nd fixed that. Also EVE + Skyrim works on windows 7 at same time, I tested it personally Big smile

Well technically, smoothless isn't a word. But you are right, it would be the opposite. Maybe what I meant was "please try to use a better word than smoothlessly". Is roughly a word?

I don't understand the Skyrim comments. I have Win7-64 and Skyrim works fine for me. Haven't had a problem with it at all.
