Hi All,

Not sure if this has been talked about yet, i'm sure you will all say if it has :)

But now that windows 10 is spawning onto pc's as we speak, have people had issues with it and / or issues with it running eve? Does it run eve any better? Crash eve etc

Do give us you impressions and experiences with it and how it's working with eve :)

Cheers

I got kinda drunk last night. I installed windows 10. After ensuring i disabled all the "we want to send microsoft everything! We want cortana listening to you all the times! We want you to p2p to **** your internet connection! Sucks if you live in Australia and have bandwidth limits lulz! " and then i could not disable windows update entirely :|

It also killed the eve launcher.

It would get an error. The game would not update. Repairs would not fix it. You could still play by launching the client then logging in but it was a pain.

I then went to sleep.

I woke up a few hours later when i was sobre. Realised what i had done. And rolled that **** back to Windows 7 immediately.

DONT DO IT.

LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE.

No worries, no intention on adopting Windows 10 as long as there are forced updates. That as a minimum has to go. Microsoft is really only making a Windows 10 for themselves.
What happened to making a product that your customers love and then get rich that way, instead of using their monopoly to just serve us one crap OS after the other.

This wouldn't be such a huge deal if it wasn't for the fact that people that want a system that's relevant in gaming has to have a Windows system, otherwise you're out of luck as that's pretty much the only system they release games for. Get started on Linux please, it's the lack of dev support for Linux that's holding me back from making it my main system. A vicious cycle.

-I want to control what gets installed on my system, so please don't force your crapware on me with forced updates. Or rotten drivers for that matter.

-I don't want my privacy violated more than it has to be, so please don't spy on my every action.

-I want an "I know what the **** I'm doing" version of Windows if I'm ever to purchase another version. So please release a proper Windows 10, you can even call it Windows 10 Technical (since you've sullied the 'Pro' label). I will pay for such a version.

Pretty ******* please, with sugar on top.

My prospect right now is to sit with Windows 7 Pro 64bit, which isn't so bad, but it sucks to be outdated by 2020. Guess 2020 is the end of the line for me as far as proper gaming goes, and I will have to join the impossible fight of making Linux a relevant gaming platform, even though that is one of my biggest wishes in this universe. It will probably spell the ending of my gaming career.

Use Apple iOS. All cool kids are using them. The best hardware and software integration bar none. You pay for premium but you know you are getting the best stuffs. Windows will die before 2020 and will be acquired by Apple.

Yeah you know, the thing is, I'm never going to touch Apple products, it's just not my thing. It's even worse than Windows if you ask me.

Migrated from W7 to W10 yesterday. My 6+ years old rig took 75 minutes to install it. It went flawlessly. Not a single issue.

Mandatory installation of Internet Explorer (and setting it as default browser), removal of minesweeper and solitaire, removal of media player, removal of the ability to determine what updates to install and when.... Next thing you know the program will require a certificate of legitimacy before it allows you to load your own home videos, photos and whatnot. Because Big Brother Knows Best.

I'm thinking it's Win7 till that dies, and then onward with Ubuntu.

Not interested in W10 until resolutions or work around solutions for driver signing are implemented to support Open Source Software that interact with devices and kernel level stuff.

As it stands, it seems open source developers are being/going to be limited and forced to pay substantial $ to develop certain kinds of software that were normally viable under Win7/8 and even prior. Ostensibly in the name of improved security. But it does a nice job of making OSS device related development difficult/impossible for independent devs who have limited resources to afford a relationship with microsoft.

Fullscreen EVE on max settings, DX11 runs smooth as butter in Windows 10. Even better than it did on 8.1.

Drivers for windows 10 haven't been created yet. Depending on the graphics card some clients will get extreme frame rate lag or wont be able to access the Eve client in general.

I'm having an issue with Eve now that I'm on Win 10 that I've not seen before.

If I click in space (right or left), the screen blinks white. It only effects the space background. Ships, planets, stations, etc all stay solid

Anyone got any ideas?

edit: more detail. Moving around probes in the map makes it blink like crazy, im guessing once for each probe. warping causes it intermittently, as do session changes.

Hmm, tried to revert back to a more stable and tested driver for your GPU?...

Oh wait, Windows 10..

My best advice then? Wait until they might fix it with a driver update in the next release, or revert to a previous Windows version.

I went from 7 to 10 as well. This is the first OS I used where right clicking the start menu was a thing and it was pure random fluke I found it. I don't mind it now that I have 'normal' menus and consoles back. Wasn't liking it one bit at first.

None of my games seem to change any as a result of the change though.

I upgraded my Dell xps laptop last night.

i7 2.20 ghz

8 gig ram

Geforce gt 555m

It seemed to go on ok, but this morning it just shows tranquility offline. Thank god I have a desk top :)

I'm just doing disk cleanup etc then I'll try to reinstall the launcher and see what happens.

Reinstalling the launcher sorted it out, EVE is running fine, so is Windows so far.

Maybe it will help for someone.

This.

Seeing as I have a whole year to decide and gather the info to make that decision, I'm in no rush.

upgrade to windows 10 "gather the info to make that decision" oh boy you must have had some hard decisions in your life

So waiting to see how Windows 10 is reviewed over the following year, before deciding if I want it, means I must have had some hard decisions in my life? Wat?

My update took 18 minutes. I had to update the Intel network driver, as it didn't recognise my Netgear router, but that wasn't Microsoft's fault. All in all, I like it a lot.
