The Launcher has become a royal PITA

Seriously. I've stopped using the Launcher since a few weeks ago, but this week CCP updated the client twice so I've been forced to use the Launcher to patch twice in a week -and it's a complete PITA. it has taken me SIX launches of the launcher so it eventually, you know, launched and did it's job.

There's nothing remotely ressembling my issues at the help site. The launcher will:

- not load the background images, nor the buttons, nor anything but the frame and a dull gray filling
- loads the background images et al, but the progress bar is stuck gray
- managed to load and everything... enjoy 80-100 seconds wait until the game launches. Exefile takes 20-30 seconds.

That qualifies as "awful lack of performance and reliability", but that's not in the help site. What can I do? Shall I open a ticket and pray? Can the game be patched without the Launcher?

Does your launcher have this weird Georgian peach bug, too?

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

Mine opens ok, but then my * launch game* is grayed out for like 4 mins somtimes...

After turning my computer on, I've found the launcher fails without feedback if I load it up during the time between Windows loading and the home wi-fi connection connecting.

This is solved by turning the computer on, waiting for Windows to load, waiting an additional 2 minutes, then loading EVE.

The launcher remains an annoying POS but at least that way it works.

I suggest you open a support ticket and speak with someone about this directly. They can help walk you through figuring out what the problem is and fixing it.

In regards to the second part of your question, patching without the launcher was a supported process when the launcher was still new. The patch files used to be hosted so you could apply them manually. This method is no longer supported and hasn't been for quite some time.

I've always noted a correlation between 'I never use the launcher' and 'It never works now when I want it to'.
Try using it more often, it will run better.

That or I am singly the most patient individual in reality with all the launcher issues I must have.
Somehow I doubt I am that patient.
Three different computers, never had any significant issues with the launcher except when the entire front end server of CCP's has been down, and that's obviously going to cause launcher issues.

Check for, and disable any proxy.

Probably the #1 cause of EVE problems is stupid proxies installed by malware or "firewall" products.

I have checked that and ahv eno proxies... will submit a ticket and try my luck with that.
