Offline POSes near Jita

So currently I'm trying to get a POS near Jita.
I have noticed that there are a ton of offline control towers without any defensive Structures in the systems around Jita.

Now I'm wondering, are these all baits and the corp owning such a tower is just waiting for people to attack?
Or is it actually possible for me as a single player to remove such an offline POS?

Probably genuinely abandoned. A lot of people go afg and stuff so their towers just go derelict. You can very likely remove it solo with an Oracle or something.

Of course, a prudent man would check the killboard of the Corp in question to look for traps like the one you describe being sprung in the past.

There are a few moons with no towers 1j from jita, checked it a week or so ago.

I can confirm that many of them are simply abandoned. I know this because my order has destroyed them on numerous occasions.
