The recruitment thing in the corp tab doesn't seem to useful, and spamming cans and local never works out too well either. So, I ask you, how do you recruit enterprising new pilots into your corp?

Start conversations in local and get to know people to know that they might mesh well with your corp ideals?

and do social networking, join the channels of other corps and their allied corp's channels and the personal channels of people, and the fun random hang out channels like the various radio channels?

You also didn't mention having tried the in-game recruitment channel, despite how spammy it is you can get a few bite in there if you have a good ad that portrays you well.

Interesting, may have to post in that forum and see what happens.
I've also thought about convo'ing everyone somewhat new I see in a npc corp.

Let me start by stating that I don't do any recruiting anymore. I've graduated from Director to Grunt and I'm never looking back.

That said, what I used to do was simple. I'd try to observe noobs doing activities wrong that I felt could be associated with my corp.

Example 1: When I was recruitment director of an industry corp I convo'd a guy who was mining in a Stabber to tell him that there's a better cruiser for that. We talked extensively about how he could improve his yield, and when the time was right I offered him a position in our corp.

Example 2: When I was recruiting for my old PVP/pirate corp I came across a noob trying to get kills in the asteroid belts of Uplingur. He didn't have a point fitted. I convo'd him, explained what was going on and why ship kills were eluding him. He went on to become one of our top killers.

The point is this: No carpet-bombing recruitment technique can replace good old-fashioned casual observation and friendly converstation. You may not see people joining your corp in droves, but by being selective you can ensure that the ones who do join will eventually be top-notch members of your corp.

It is a major pain to recruit, but one thing I would add:

NEVER, NEVER take on people who have a long list of corps they have been in. If they are constantly jumping around, there is a reason, and it usually never good.

@darth, good advice, will definately be keeping an eye out for noobs in need of guidance. However it doesn't seem like there's much I can do besides check belts and anoms in game.(I'm not counting chat channels as in game P)

I will probably be trying everything in this thread throughout the day, maybe I'll end up with some people to pvp with.

And by the way, any newer payers interested in small gang pvp, building pos's and customs offices, and doing pve stuff should eve mail me or convo me in game Lol

The best way to recruit for a corp is to randomly pick someone in local and contract all your stuff to them. That is usually what will happen if you let random people in your corp anyway.

This way you save the time and hassle of getting even more stuff for them to steal and they don't have to wait around for you to give them roles to clean you out.

Ya see? this i what i meant by finding people in local.

On the other hand the social networking thing helps you coming across older players that know pretty well what they are doing and just might want a new corp cause their current one is dead. Hanging out in various channels can help you find these guys.

Not only that but if you're good with the networking you could double as a diplomat, getting people set blue that you would have otherwise recruited.

This.

Especially once CCP finally implements the modular POS and corp system (That will reduce the power of thieves and spiez) it is going to be a great deal harder to recruit by throwing up forum posts. Talking to people individually is key and being patient is another. Some may be unsure and then after a while may decide to give it a try.

I'd just like to interject here that if you say "Chribba" 3 times and click your heels together he appears.

Also, smartbomb the undocks in newbie systems, then recruit the ragey newbies.

This man knows what he is talking about. I wouldn't be surprised if you recruited 1000 recruits within a day.

If you are still small and desperate for members i would advice going to the recruitment channel ingame. Post every 15 minutes or so and small chat with the people who are in there.

I would also repeat what others have said already, use the recruitmet forums. Read the rules regarding bumping, read other peoples posts and get an idea on how you can formulate your own. Take 15 minutes a day and look over the posts made by recruits but only reply tho those who are looking for something you can offer.

Dont start to mail or convo spam people, even if they are in a NPC corp. Its a sure way to get your self blocked. But hang around in the noob systems and small chat in local and try to give people advice.

Protip: I am currently in a NPC corp (Don't plan on joining a real corp anytime soon) and I and many others in there hate when people spam in there trying to recruit for their corp

EDIT: Protip 2: Make a public channel that people can come in and talk to you and your corp members and make sure that a good majority of your corp members stay in there, it's like a bridge between not being in your corp nor getting to know any of the people in that corp to fully being in the corp and knowing most of the people in there.

As many have mentioned, use the recruitment forum. Instead of simply saying "looking for people", why not add some more info such as what it is your corp can offer them.
