There are less than 5% woman in eve. And you tend to be clustered together in some communities / corps because other communities / corps can be directly toxic to females.

So yeah. Just do what you like to do in the game without giving a damn about gender and find someone else with the same mindset.

What surprises me is that people would admit to being female in a game that consists primarily of immature neckbeards that have never interacted with a woman outside of porn and webcam sites.

Most of the women I know create male avatars to try and not be harassed so they can just enjoy the game, while many of the men create female avatars to take advantage of the rest of them that have never talked to a real woman.

What a strange world we live in.

I dont see any strangeness more strange than usual.
Even when it involves a lot of dead people.

I avoid the harassment with a particularly clever and sneaky ruse....by just not logging in. Shhhhhhhh! Don't tell anyone!

Why on earth would I hide who I am. I don't feed trolls, so I am not concerned about them. I am just confused as to why it is surprising that I would spend my time playing a fun and challenging game such as I do. Almost as if the guys who look at me funny think I should be playing candy crush or something. ......thankfully my corp appreciates my zest for flying and isn't intimidated or awestruck by having a girl in corp. I am proud to not have to hide who I am.

I would suggest thinking about why you feel that there is a need to broadcast who you claim to be, since that is suspicious.

Kinda have to agree.

Every corp my characters have ever been in within EVE over 5+ years has had female members.

You wouldn't know it, until you're talking to them on comms, as they don't advertise the fact and why should they? They've mostly had female characters too from my experience. I've never quite understood some female players who feel the need to fill their bios with "I'm a real girl!!" in big bold letters, or start forum threads about themselves. That's not pride, that's crying out for ... something.

There is no truth. There is only perception.

Better question is why promote who you are?

I've never seen a male grandly proclaim "Hey guys I'm a 197 year old male gamer and I like ponies, looking to join a pony guild" Instead it's usually "Hey guys I'm a 197 year old gamer who likes ponies, looking to join a pony guild"

Why do you find it important to mention your gender?

It's weird, like mentioning your ethnicity or sexuality or religion on a game, who does that? Why is it relevant?

There are quite a few female gamers, I even know a few minor RL celebrity female gamers.
It depends on who you are and how you interact with people.

I had a friend that I have known since 2011 join my alliance. She gets on voice comms and it is at that point, four years later that I find out her gender.

It is not important.

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

No you got it all wrong, man. Yes, most players here are male, but the bulk of them here are in their 30's and mostly married. They take on mostly female characters so their wives lay off on them about sex chat stuff/ So to correct, those dudes are biatches and their wives wear teh pants in the family cuz they can't control their skirts. Gawd, all those years with debates why males play female characters and no one got it >.> *runs for his life*
oh yeah yeah yeah "RP" uh-huh.

Yeah, some girls play EVE.

I'm in it for the money
