Forum rules

7. Discussion of real life religion and politics is prohibited.

Discussion of real life religion and politics is strictly prohibited on the EVE Online forums. Discussions of this nature often creates animosity between forum users due to real life political or military conflicts. CCP promotes the growth of a gaming community where equality is at the forefront. Nationalist, religious or political affiliations are not part of EVE Online, and should not be part of discussion on the EVE Online forums.

27. Off-topic posting is prohibited.

Off-topic posting is permitted within reason, as sometimes a single comment may color or lighten the tone of discussion. However, excessive posting of off-topic remarks in an attempt to derail a thread may result in the thread being locked, or a forum warning being issued to the off-topic poster.

Praise Phil that somebody is protecting our eve religions. BTW do you have a minute to discuss our lord and saviour Phil?

Clarity is good. I hate ambiguityBlink

Seems about right. 30d is about what it takes to train and use a properly fitted combat frigate.
Less paperwork for the GMs is good too, there's more important stuff to do than babysitting.

you must be one of those elite pvpers? you can train and skill into a pvp frig in hours. You can have 'good' skills for a pvp frigate in a week...

TBH this actually looks better than the old system.

I know I accidentally broke the previous rules a couple of times - when I used to run contract scams in Apanake I'd sometimes fly to and from Dodixie posting the scam in local, and Arnon is a busy system that's basically on the way. Didn't realise it was an issue until someone called me out in local over it being a rookie system.

This makes it *clear* that suicide ganking players in Exhumers and Orcas in these systems is now OK (you can't even sit in an exhumer as a rookie under this definition).

One problem will occur with mission invasion in the rest of the arc. Sheroo is a popular L4 system AND the place you fight Dagan - if you probe someone down in Sheroo with the intention of baiting or ganking them, it's easy to not know that they are an illegal target.

All I know about that arc is Dagan, you travel around a lot, you get isk as a reward and you gain rep.

Although it shouldn't affect me as I don't intend to stay in high-sec. I can see problems for those that do stay in high-sec if they've not done that arc or have done it awhile back.

Only real way to be sure is treat trial accounts as not being part of the game and just ignore their activities, which isn't good for them or the game.

In light of the new ruling maybe CCP should redesign that arc.

Edit:

It also makes me wonder about career agents, as one of those missions is a courier mission that requires around 7 jumps, what happens if someone destroys the ship and destroys or takes the item. Seems they will also be breaking the rules if the pilot is 30 days or less.

Well, if you see someone in L4-capable ship, chances are that it isn't SoE arc pocket. In fact, if you are seeing such a ship, chances are the person isn't a rookie anyway.

The Vexor is an L4 capable ship (particularly the Navy version but the tech 1 version can run all L4s except burners). Similarly the Gnosis.

I'm not sure if burner missions go to Sheroo but they are run in ships that a rookie might train into under this definition.

There's also some less known systems in the arc where the same thing may happen with a less popular mission agent.

In short there will be people that break the rules without intending to break them.

On the plus side, the sorts of ships rookies tend to fly are harder to probe down (usually) than L4 missioning ships, so I don't expect accidents to happen often.

Besides, according to CONCORD I'm a fine upstanding citizen with my shiny 5.0 security status.
Obviously they, and CCP approve of what I do.
Be happy with what you've got in high sec. It's more than what was, and arguably more than most deserve.
Throwing money and subscription stuff out to back up your point doesn't make it less wrong.
In fact it's tired and reeks of a false 'save the children' mentality.
CCP has made a LOT of compromises over the years to make things 'safer' in high security space.
More than they should have, but it's hard to backpedal from where they're at now.

"Be The Villain", "HTFU", "Killing is Just a Means (of communication)" Their words.
The real problem is that so many gamers are used to empty posturing, moustache twirling and various lame crap that they are COMPLETELY unprepared to deal with a REAL villain.

Sorry kiddo, but the baddies here don't tie the damsel to the train tracks, only to have Dudley DoRight show up and save her.
They're lurking on the other side of the gate with baseball bats.
They're cloaked 2500m away from your mining barge or mission ship, just getting ready to warp out once they know the kill squad is incoming.
They're more than willing to double or triple your ISK, honest. They even have API linked wallets and stuff.

Nasty, eh? It was worse. It's safer now than it ever was before.
Adapt to the reality of this unreal world instead of trying to force it to conform to your notions of what should be.

They're in your corp, watching your chats, chatting in your TS, reading your mails, monitoring your assets, your online times, your corporate wallets, watching and waiting for the opportune moment to strike.

They're the neutral cov ops floating near the gate, watching your fleet comp.

Those are the real villains, the guy who ganks you is just a dude shooting folks, the war target is just a duded shooting folks. Neither likely has any vested interest in your destruction beyond content for himself.

The true villains want to watch everything you've created in game burn to the ground around you.

And that's what makes Eve so unique, and so worth playing. (cause let's be honest, Eve would be the worst single player game ever made)

And sometimes they'd be killing a new hauling alt of a veteran player.

Part of the SOE arc is taking players into all 4 empires, it would be difficult to redesign without loosing that. (depends how important you consider that aspect)

I thereby consider myself a rookie, and nobody may attack me, as I may be attempting something I haven't tried before.

Indeed, Oblivious to the fact that the content they have created for themselves (these topics ~ biomass) or brought unto them by others (mine my rocks will ya ~ the entitled) has succeeded in the task they set out to achieve when they fired up the game. Somethin to pass the time, and maybe generate new thoughts, concepts or fun times even. Now if only it wouldn't cause them such stress, in an activity in which one usually par-takes to defrag internal hard drives. Maybe its just my feelings showing, Since ive lost a loved one in rl recently. I kinda feel like for once i should reach out and help a miner. Im just on the fence i guess...

Frankly, I see this as a win for the PVP community, as we now have a finite definition of what a rookie is. Prior to this ruling, what constituted a rookie was solely at the discretion of the GM overlooking a petition. With this in place, players are now free to hunt down and engage non-rookie players (31+ days old) without fear of recrimination.

I think it's a win full stop - the previous rule was hopelessly vague, implying even that one might be immune on reruns of the Sisters' arc, or whatever. This seems much more clear and sensible.
