Feature Idea: Replace wormhole polarization popup with timer indicator

Hi,

I don't like modal popup windows (dialog that require interaction), so could we get rid of the one that tells you about wormhole polarization timer. For this I do have an replacement idea.

Add character only radial timer indicator around the wormhole symbol. Similar to the one with mobile depot reinforcement timer.

If that is too much (better situational awareness for the enemy). at least it should be changed to non-modal notification like the session change timer.

Indicator can be implemented in many ways, but I think you will get the idea from above.

what about when you've jumped through half a dozen different WH's - half of which you've jumped through both ways, and the other half only one way, all will have different polarisation timers ofc...
wait - just actually double checked the picture - and I like it!

perhaps a green timer for when you can jump 1 way, but not back, and a red timer for when you can't jump at all?

REALLY like this! makes WH's a lot more noob friendly (well, excluding the locals, anyway)

For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it [u]WILL[/u] be.

When they implemented the timers for crime watch and for boosters, I never understood why they didn't do it for polarization.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

Well, because they are tied to particular hole and character instead of just character.

This suggestion pops up once in a while and I support it.

It would be easier with timer, sure. But I'd rather not have this implemented as it removes some of the mystery about wormholes. They're supposed to be mysterious and unknowable, but that's just me...

Unknowable... right up until your ship tells you how long to wait.

It's just a visualisation of data you already have.

I'm sure there are people out there with about 10 stopwatches so they can keep track of their polarization.

I thought about suggesting this soo many times, so yes please.

Rawketsled, and everyone already knew that you cannot use a gate when you shoot back and we got that nice timer anyway. In the heat of the moment time perception gets hazy fast, so a visual when the time to jump is up can save your boat.

EDIT: i was thinking and i think that in my last 20 wormhole transmissions i have gotten the "less the one second remaining" message no less then 10 times...

Useful, reasonable and as has been requested before by many wormholers, an extremly good QOL improvement.
The logic of requiring a stopwatch to be sure is completely alien to the concepts of the eve universe.

Brilliant. I love it. And I can pretty much guarantee that you'll get some **** of a wormholer complaining that you're dumbing down wormholes and breaking J-space. Which just makes it even better.
