Figured you can't beat them, join them and since I doubt CCP will remove off-grid links why not go ahead and train up one of my own for the task. So my question is how long does it take to train a good links pilot and any suggestions on a skillplan to do it with?

I just got 14 months for a more or less pure OGB with max boosts in all 4 T3s but no CS training. Blows both bonus remaps and has no combat capabilities, but hey, max T3 links and enough speed/sensor strength to be somewhat evasive.

Export isn't really working, but the idea is to hit learning implants to 5 (you'll want cyber 5 for mindlinks anyhow), max navigation and leadership, train cloaking, train into all T3s with defensive subs to 5 (others can stay lower), make sure you can overheat, throw in some fitting skills -- and that's it. Oh, and rigging. You may want some non-weapon rigging skills. And jump clones. Don't forget those.

If you want to focus on one ship that drops the time to under a year, but your remaps are still used up.

The only issue with this is that the character is more or less a one-trick pony. It does boosts at that point but literally nothing else.

Play around in EFT for the ship you plan to target. Maxing out the leadership skills with a remap is about 6 months. In addition to an OGB T3 it will also opens up command ships for more hands on action.

I started with an Orca pilot who already had Warfare Link Specialist and all the basic leadership skills at level 5. He is now about 2 months shy of flying a Nighthawk with a full T2 fit including T2 links for Seige and Information.

Your basic leadership skills take a little over a week, your specialist skills take close to a month as will Battlecruiser 5. You need Cybernetics 5 to fit a mindlink. You will also need support skills for the ship unless you intend to park it off grid. Your numbers may vary depending on implants and attribute map.

CCP have indicated they want to change off grid boosting but it can't be done with a patch. A section of legacy code will need to be completely rewritten. I have no idea where that sits on their priority list but do believe it will happen.
