Can anyone explain how the ingame Block feature works? Is the blocked player still able to send you messages, bounty you or see you at all? I keep getting conflicting info about this feature. Thanks.

You can't hear them scream that is all. They can still stab you in space if you ever undocked.

a blocked player can't convo or mail you. Non conversational things like bounties will still work of course

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

A blocked player will not be able to send you Notifications through contact changes, EVE-Mails or Chat conversation requests. You will also not see anything they send to you in public channels.

Maybe you should just purchase the permit and comply to the Code. Blocking people will not help you in any way. It's only 10mil ISK and valid for a whole year.

LMAO! Code = Losers. No thanks.

BTW I wasn't hoping to prevent anything from happening. I just don't want to hear from the F--kers, so it looks like the block feature prevents that :) Thanks all.

Calm down miner! Also you should keep it civil, in the forums as in local.

It seams to me that there is indeed some bad blood here, but I am sure we can work that out. I am only here to help you.

Blocking people is bad for your situational awareness. What if someone wants to warn you or even ransom you? Carebears however can usually be blocked without a problem, since all they do is whining anyway. If in doubt about if you should block a person or not, just ask yourself: What would James do?

Indeed. Recently, after destroying an AFK Mackinaw I received an all-too typical insult-filled Eve-mail from the target. After reviewing the victim's killboard, I realized that this carebear needed some help and wrote a long, detailed reply with tips and ideas to keep their industrial ships safe in modern highsec, only to find out that he had blocked me! Not only is this rude - sending an insult-riddled evemail and then preventing any opportunity at a reply - it is damn shortsighted. How do carebears expect to improve at this game if they just block everyone willy-nilly?

You can always send the mail to them before you destroy them to ensure that your valuable knowledge gets delivered...

Hmm. Good point. But in my experience, carebears seem to learn better if you reinforce the lesson with the destruction of their assets. Otherwise, they tend to reply with insults and taunts stemming from the false sense of security they feel in today's bubble-wrapped highsec. If you humble them first, they are more receptive to ideas that will prevent such losses in the future.

Some call our teaching philosophy tough, but it is effective. If they block me before I can help them become a better Eve player, it hurts them in the long run more than it does me.

But to the OP, save the blocking for players that are actually behaving rude and objectionably, rather than those just playing the game as designed.

People are different and they learn differently. However, based on our in-depth experience with education in Highsec, we can say that the majority learns by experiencing a good example of why the topic is important to motivate for the lesson.

I would hazard a guess that you appear on many block lists, both ingame and on the forums.

You must be terribly sad and lonely Twisted

I'd like the Code a lot more if they simply shot everyone, permit or no permit, I guess it's more an RP thing for you guys.

If you have a permit but violate the Code, we will still shoot you.

LOL I lived in high sec for years, and sorry CODE could never take me. Id blow 10 mill isk out my ass rather than pay dumb CODE *******. Smooches babe, try harder and put it where the sun aint shining.

And I live in Null with real threats and if the battles are one on one, this miner usually wins. I can take my licks if Im being dumb, but usually can make the isk back in about…say an hour?? I LOVE BEING A MINER! LMAO!

One Love kiddies!

PS: And how in **** did this convo about block end up being infected with the barnacles that is CODE? Shocked
