You know the career mission where you have to fly a frigate into a pirate control tower? When I was doing that just today, I was approaching the tower when I accidentally hit the dock button to send my ship back to the station. Just as the ship kicked into warp, the tower blew up and so did the pirate ships... but my ship reached the station intact! I cancelled the dock and raced back to the site to find a pile of loot waiting for me.

Obviously the frigate isn't really loaded with explosives, but is the area scripted to blow everything up (in which case I really did break it, but not on purpose), or does the tower emit omnidirectional area damage like a smartbomb?

If EVE is a PvP game, then Anti-Ganking is emergent gameplay.

Check your mission journal and see if the mission is completed. If so, just continue on with the Career Agent. If mission doesn't show as completed then wait until after downtime which will reset the mission and you can redo it again.

That's not the issue. The mission completed just fine, I just want to know if I actually broke something or if I just found a neat exploit to get a free ship.

Ahhh, no you didn't break it. The station is set to explode when your ship is within a specific range. The whole point of the mission is for you to experience your ship getting destroyed and explain some things about your pod.

Anyway, gratz on completing the mission without losing the ship. Hope you have a long and rewarding career here.
