Anyone know how to beat a Rupture in a Thorax?

Let's say it's a basic fit Rupture - 1600mm R/T with DPS/Range rigs, some armor resistance solidifiers in the low-slots and maybe some gyrostabilizers and one or two neutralizers.

So how would I beat that in a Thorax?

I'm not incredibly knowledgable in the art of pvp, but I'll do my best.

First of all, use ECM drones. If he's jammed, you'll probably be able to kick his ass. I'd fit mainly magnetic field stabs in the lows, maybe a plate for some buffer. If you're confident in your ECM drones, use an MWD as well. Just try to pull off DPS, your drones should keep you safe. For rigs, I'd fit DPS rigs. You shouldn't have trouble with range.

Of course, if your drones screw up you're dead. This could be completely wrong, but something along the lines of this should work. My two cents.

I've beat that http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=14905395 Ruppy in a shield buffer, scram Thorax with 3x mag stabs and full rack of neutrons w/void (overheated).

Fight was pretty close, with my getting out after he popped with about 25% structure. I don't know how experienced the pilot was, but he should have nearly perfect skills (older player than me).

I was using ECM Vespas, but he saw that so he refitted for ECCM. According to our post-fight convo, I never got to jam him with my 5x meds, so my 660ish gun dps was enough. I guess a highly skilled Thorax pilot with 5x Valk IIs would do the job much easier/faster.

Heavily plated with armour rigs makes for a slow Thorax, thing is that if the Ruppie is armour tanked (and thus fairly short range) then your vastly superior DPS will win out just fine. If the Ruppie is shield tanked (and stays at range or orbits) that means he's much faster than you, but there are some tricks to lure people into scram (if you don't fit a scram you shouldn't be short range) range even though their ships are faster. Mostly has to do with you shooting off in a certain direction luring them into hitting approach on you, as they do so and gain momentum you turn into them and grab them.

Excellence is not a skill, it's an attitude.

IMO:
- Armor vs Armor, your best bet is ECM and/or outskilling him
- Shield vs Shield, you should win this.
- Armor vs Shield, shield wins

I wouldn't be surprised to see it go either way though - I was pleasantly surprised how well the hybrid boost treated the Thorax. Could have gone a wee bit further without offending my delicate sensibilities, but it was a fine first step.

Ed: BTW, you have better tracking and more drone DPS than he does. Take ruthless advantage of this.

I'm an idiot, don't mind me.

5 medium ECM drones.
70% chance to jam the Rupture every 20 seconds.
Nerf ECM drones.
