New Eden Store - Ships

There are some great aspects to the New Eden store. It and a very smooth UI and everything is easy to access with a few clicks and some that hold it back. I want to highlight these aspects and hopefully get some feed back from CCP and the thoughts from the community.

The preview of the ships is tiny, much smaller than the in game ship preview, I find my self going back into the game to preview skins which is a real pain.

The background on all the ships I have previewed in the store is dark with poor ineffective lighting, if you want to sell something its a good idea to put it in a brightly lit room.

Lastly, I feel the point of these ship skins is to show off your ship, to be ostentatious, like a middle aged man reaching a point in his life where he has money and not much else so he buys a bright yellow sports car. Some of these skins do that well (Amarr, Gallente), most don't.

I got the Sabre Justice Skin the other day, I can't tell the difference between it and the default skin.
Also Thukker Tribe skins, i.e. Arctic cameo really?

Came here excited that CCP had finally started selling ship models in the RL New Eden Store.

Left massively disappointed...

I like them.
I think the Thukker skins are the only ones worth taking, since they look distinctly different from the original rusty red/brown.

edit:
P.S.
Almost forgot: blah blah blah Sharkmouth Paintjobs blah blah blah

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

I have some skins but for the same reason you describe almost none of them are Minmatar. I prefer skins that are clearly different from the normal skin even at a distance.

For example, the Nugoeihuvi skins are clearly more exciting than the default Caldari skins with their red/black camo. However the Wiyrkomi skins don't interest me that much because they don't look much different than the default skin.

On the Minmatar side of things, most of their skins are pretty dark and many are difficult to discern from the default skin in a lot of lighting situations.

Gallente and Amarr both have many skin choices which are different than the default skin.

Now if they only included what skin was being used on killmails...

Likewise, now I'm sad.

It would be great to have a Ships Gallery in our Player Home so we could display large size scale models of our favorite ships (say, models in a scale as to be roughly the size of a person).

Then we could invite our friends to visit the ship models in display and brag about them and share tales about our adventures with those ships.

The scale models should be cheap, ranging 5 to 50 AUR based on size, detail and relative scale (FAI a Titan would be a complex modeling work at 1:5000 scale, whereas a Rifter would be a easier 1:48 or 1:32 work).

Roses are red / Violets are blue / I am an Alpha / And so it's you

I agree that's its the only one worth taking currently. I don't know enough about Eve lore to understand the colour scheme. But I would have expected a bolder colour to be more predominant. (Red/Gold) minmatar roots/amarr roots.

I see Nefandtar seem to be gold and white which is a nice mix, but it doesn't stick out very well, either due to the dark lighting in the view window or because of the scheme colour itself which is very frugal.

Ship skins should reflect how badly each ship has been nerfed. Some should be poop brown and barf yellow...

In my personal opinion the alternative skins for Minmatar ships should look more like the Orc paintjobs in Warhammer 40k, like this or this or this. If you want players to pay real money for them, they've got to be somewhat spectacular at least.

I'd love to see stuff reminiscent of this, this and obviously this. I'd like to see the ship skin tool they showed become available to use too.
