I have no clue what is going on with EVE, but I seem to be getting around 1 - 4 fps in game. In all honestly, that shouldn't be happening.

Maybe two months ago, I could run the game at a constant 60fps on ultra when I was using the free trial. Now that I managed to get my hands on it today, I loaded into the world with an abysmal 1 - 4 fps.

I use a:

Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 (3gig DDR5 version)
8 gigs of ram
Intel Core i7-860 2.80GHz
Windows 10 Technical Preview

All temps stay around 30°C so it is not a power issue. Already tried to run it with DX9 instead of 11; no change. Is it a compatibility issue with Win 10? Or something else altogether?

Changing the setting to lower ones doesn't help at all. Low runs the same as high, oddly enough.

Please help

While we do not support Windows 10 yet, this sounds weird to me. It might be worth trying to reinstall your graphic drivers. If this does not help, then please send a bug report from in-game (F12 - Report Bug), maybe we find something interesting in your client logs.

Tried reinstalling the driver, but nothing happened. I did do the report bug thing as you asked.

I think I'm just going to wipe my computer and reinstall windows 8.1 on it because at least that should work. It was always a possibility that Windows 10 would not play well with everything and it seems like my luck ran out.

Your client is constantly spamming errors about being unable to write combat log files - which would explain the bad performance.
I added a longer comment to your bug report - please check if the stated path exists on your computer.

I have been having these exact same issues after updating from windows 7 to windows 10. I used to get a solid 60fps but now I'm getting around 5 or 6. Character creation and character selection aren't affected only actual gameplay. I tried reinstalling the driver's and the game but to no avail. Even setting the graphics down to minimum settings has no effects.

Wait, so right click the launcher and click run as admin or just be on an admin account? I am the admin account but I haven't tried right clicking and running as admin... Also, Which folders should I try putting where?

Okay I just fixed the problem and I will tell you how I did it and what's going on.

It has something to do with the way Windows 10 handles permissions to folders in the user directory. It is preventing EVE from creating log files so it continually retries thus causing a great amount of lag.

What you need to do is open Computer and go to your C: drive, then open the Users folder. Find your user folder (it will be the name your account name unless you changed your account name) and open it. Once you are there open the Documents folder then right click on the EVE folder and click Properties. Then click on the security tab. You will see all of the users. In my case I have SYSTEM, Home Users (Raven-PC\Home Users), and Administrators (Raven-PC\Administrators). Click Edit and select the Home Users account. Next to Full control check the allow box then click apply.

You might get some errors (I did in my case) just click OK through them and you are done!

Now EVE should be back to normal! :D

Did you try just giving yourself full control first? Giving the HOME Users group full control lets anyone logged into your PC have access to that folder. Granted that's generally not a big deal, just pointing out the flaw there.

I already had full control sense I am an administrator and it is my account. My account is the only account on the computer so it's not too big of a deal for me.

Sounds like you have found the solution to my problem, I was on the verge of going back to 7.

Only problem is I don't have the home user you mention. I have 3 others, they all have full access to the folder. They are system, Administrators and one with my name & email address. Any ideas?

Thanks

Just to bump... This solution worked for me. Had a similar issue with another game (Path of Exile) after the Win 10 update that required the same fix.

You may have to take ownership of the folders and subfolders as well. Especially if, when you upgraded, you converted from a local account to a outlook.com or live.com account. I've had a few friends who did that and the ownership of the folder structure was hosed. Taking ownership and cascading it down to subfolders and files fixes issues where it kicks errors when trying to add permissions.
