Incursion Ship to Aim towards?

I would please like some advise on what ship to aim for on a new account, short term goal is start doing level 4s ASAP then jump into incursions when possible.

I only want a ship that is gunnery based, happy with either armor or shield tanking. I do not want to go towards a logi or strat cruiser and do not want to have any missile skills.

I am tied between a long term goal of a Vindi or Mach based on looks alone.

With the aim of level 4 asap in a ship running up to these which would be more preferable ?

For example would a Domi drone boat be the earliest thing to start level 4s in?

Note ill have a reasonable amount of isk to fund faction mods where appropriate.

Many thanks for any help provided.

I think the absolute fastest you could be in an incursion ship would be logistics, although I haven't actually done a skillplan comparison so don't quote me on that.

Being very new account and flying logi in incursions will make people suspicious that your one of the griefer alts.

But logis are allways in demand so Im sure that you would get an opening soon enough and get some rep for not blowing fleets up.

Just dont go in an **** **** up ... nobody wants fail logis because they cost fleetmembers billions. Do the learning experience somewhere else first.

On the DPS side of things Mach is an overall solid ship for pve and incursions.

Regarding logi I already have another account that's heading towards logi 5, so do not want it twice.

That and also combined with the fact logi does not help get me into level 4 missions any time soon.

Mach seems more popular than vindi is that for a specific reason?

If there's a free spot in a gang another mach is always welcome, if there already 2 vindis a 3rd may be too much. And,nore people have projectile then hybrid skills.

because mach teabags lvl 4's, it applies dps to MUCH greater ranges than the vindi (like almost double), and it doesn't need the target to be webbed to buggery to actually hit it.

I flew a vindi in incursions for a while, hated it. the damage output was rediculous when I could actually hit stuff, but the lack of range and the lack of hitting (with max gunnery skills and 2x tracking computer) bugged me. YMMV however, especially since the hybrid buff.

Mach will serve you better as an all round ship to train for, seriously. you will kick yourself in 6 months time if you train for vindi and you want to do a mix of incursions and lvl 4's.

but, tbh, the best ship for incursions is a legion, regardless of wether you want to fly a t3 or not, but sshh dont tell anyone :P

This. logis are the easiest thing to get into, and always needed. However like he said they'll be suspicious of a 4 week old toon advertising as a lvl 4 logi.

As a DPS role, laser boats are very good, with the Nightmare being the best overall Incursion ship (Might have changed to Vindicator after they got an immense boost).
