Starting Over: What would you do?

Hello friends. I am returning to EVE after some years on hiatus. Having left the game out of miner's frustration I return with the search for a new career path in mind. My old character was sold to a good friend so I am quite literally starting over, although I have quite a bit of isk from that character's mining career as well as a few T2 BPOs I was fortunate enough to obtain and subsequently sell.

So I pose the question to you all: Given the prospect of starting over fresh, and slightly rich, what kind of career would you pursue? I ask this out of pure curiosity and perhaps the chance to consider something that I had not previously. This is not a wanton "what is the best," question. I simply want to know what you all enjoy or have enjoyed from an early (character) age in order to better form my own opinions.

Thank you.

Blind wonton mayhem in lowsec. Blow the entire starting kitty on +3s and rifters. By the time you lose them all, you'll be pretty well skilled (player skills) as a frig pilot and have a fair amount of SP on your industrial (not mining, industry) alt to keep you flying rifters.

More broadly, anything but mining.

I would probably station trade. It is my favorite method of making isk and engaging in (market) pvp.

Now wait for all the self-loathing nerds to post how terrible EVE is and why you shouldn't bother. Edit: Looks like they beat me here.

You've got a crawler bot that finds anytime your name or Veldspar is mentioned in a thread, don't you?

Well you just joined EVE in time to play hi taxed PI, also hulkageddon starts soon so mining is a good idea so you dont miss that.

If you want something new though, incursion are close to brand new and also make good isk. Or you could join the goons and help destroy russians and take control of branch. Both are new and could be fun.

Do the tutorials. They have good tutorials for many career paths that are pretty good. Back in the day the tutorials were almost an insult, but now they are nice.

I have no idea what you consider fun, so I can't tell you, do exploration, do PI. etc, but I do suggest trying things you might have been too intimidated to try before. Never tried pvp, starting pvp from day one is actually a very good strategy if you find a good corp. If you are a new player you won't be expected to be self sufficient, so you can explore the different careers.

Careers like Scamming don't have tutorials, but don't dispair if scamming people is what you enjoy. Birds of a feather flock together, find some scammers and they will share their secrets with you to enough of an extent you can make your way. Personally, I think scamming is too hit-and-miss to be a proper career. More of a sideline.

Ninja salvaging is another career not in tutorials, but appeals to some.

PI does not have a proper tutorial mission set yet, but there are good videos on youtube. Exploration has a decent mission tutorial, but the videos do a lot more to improve your technique.

If all else fails, eve is complex enough that you can make your own career. Maybe you can plan to work your way up a corp, and once you get super privleges, you rob them blind? Make your own Eve bank, selll bonds, etc, If it doesn't exist in game, you can often just make it up.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

velator + 1isk, so that you can feel the most satisfaction of truly building your character from nothing, and earning all the great future achievments you will undoubtably attain!

. . .of course any extra isk you might have atm, just give away to your egd forum friends. /bats-eyes

Train up lots of guns and a ship you like to perfection. Find a source of tears and mine that.

By the way, since we're already talking, do you want to buy a rifter? I've got the cheapest rifters in Metropolis. If you can find a cheaper rifter, buy it!
