Sad

Everything in EVE is a trap.

And if it isn't, it's your job to make it a trap...:)

You want to know what immorality in EVE Online looks like? Look no further than Ripard "Jester" Teg.

Zoiie is this scammer alt that usually resides in major trade hubs across New Eden. Taking the guise of a female newbie, Zoiie constantly asks for expensive ships like Asteros and Noctis's. Gave her one for sh*ts and giggles, but then she makes an excuse for "not being in the mood of salvaging". I bet she has a stockpile of 70m+ ships. Just don't give her one.

Spread the word.

LOL...sorry, I can't help but laugh. Lol

A little advice...real women gamers, at least the majority of them, aren't gonna ask for things..or take things as gifts. There are those who will exploit foolish guys because they know they will do whatever they want. But, for the most part, any legit woman is not gonna do it. Roll

I, for one, will not ask someone for free stuff...nor accept it as any kind of gift because of my sex. Makes me wonder why you gave it to begin with...it's not like you were going to get anything in return..at least I hope you weren't expecting anything. Blink

It's bad enough to get scammed at all...but don't be a fool and get scammed because you think someone is a woman..that says things about your character too.. (no offense intended). Smile

If I had a nickel for every time someone said women don't play eve, I'd have a bag of nickels to whack the next person who said it..

What you guys aren't understanding is that I'm not trying to cry here - as mentioned earlier, my income allows me to replace a Noctis in an hour or so - but I really thought that this was a legit noob in need of a salvage ship (I constantly give out mining barges and other ships to newbies). However, I realized that this was just a scammer alt after my BS detectors started to ring.

The so-called newbie claimed that an acid cloud destroyed the Noctis, but didn't have any loss mail to provide proof. Then, as the typical scammer, she asks for more Nocti (and an Astero). This just lead me to believe that this isn't a legit noob, and that the investment was pointless. And plus, my generosity didn't have anything to do with the fact that she was a "female".

90% of the posts here are something like "Oh, you gave a ship to somebody, you're such a stupid pos, haha dumbass", but the thing is that I like investing in noobs to keep them motivated in their EVE playtime by giving them ships and advice. However, trying to help a "noob" that turns out to not be one and trying to point this out to others somehow gets a negative response.

And yeah, maybe this does say a lot of things about my character. Maybe it's telling me that I'm such a pathetic human being for going out of my way to help people. Well, apparently trying to be a good guy will get you tricked and will lead to everybody believing that you're some gullible, weak sod.

Edit: this thread has been derailed beyond repair and has lost it's original purpose, let's just walk away and close this down.

Actually I met Zoiie in-game, when I say met I mean we are in the same NPC corp and we talked in chat.

At 8 days old she had 2.6b not via PLEX and a 161 million bounty on her. So there's definitely more to Zoiie than meets the eye. She also seems to know a fair bit about the game (could be as she claims by watching YT) but she was suggesting in corp chat that moving redeemed items should be ok and when we pointed out moving PLEX is a bad idea, she dismissed the idea and suggested we didn't know what we were talking about.

So read into that what you will.

Back to you, so you give her a ship which is a gift. When I give gifts the person I give the gift to can do what they like with it regardless what the intend of the gift was. That's the risk you take.

Obviously you could afford to give the gift otherwise you wouldn't have.

But this thread really is pointless other than its entertainment value. You single out someone out of a universe of many and the only reason you do that is because you feel an idiot as you feel you've given a gift to a scammer (scammer as in what you think she is) and in doing so feel that you fell into her trap.

Like I said this thread is pointless, in a few weeks doubt anyone would even think much if anything about this thread.

If I had a hat, I'd take my hat off to her.

When you give someone a gift you always take a risk. But the way I look at it is, if I give someone a gift they can do what they like with it and I expect nothing in return.

How do you know for certain that she has 2.6 billion ISK? It's impossible for an 8-day character to make 2.6 billion by herself, that clearly shows that she's a beggar alt. I refuse to believe that a noob can make that much money in 8 days.

Because she told me and I had no reason to disbelief her. I know how in part, but I'm not going to tell you. If she wants to tell you she can tell you herself.

Of course she/he is a beggar alt!
But as always, the medal has two sides, on the on side are the beggars and on the other side are the idiots who give stuff/isk to them!
Now stop whining and go outside and have a beer/ ice cream or whatever you like.

Actually there is one thing that does seem odd:

Why would a noob requiring donations need "expensive ships like Asteros and Noctis", and at 8 days how can they do anything with them? Aren't disposable t1 frigates more traditional?

They don't, of course it's a scam and like all scams it relies on one or more of gullibility, stupidity and avarice on the part of the victim.

If only the OP had asked himself the same question, we wouldn't have to witness the spectacle that is this thread.

I lost an Ishtar recently and don't have the 300m to replace it.

OP, can you contract me a new Ishtar? Fully T2 active armor tanked.

Thanks.

New Eden isn't nice. It isn't friendly. It isn't very hospitiable. Good thing there are people here to shoot in the face.

You'll be wanting a full flight of Geckos to go with that I assume?

I was joking.

Now really, let's get the ISD to clean up this mess, popcorn's been consumed, anyways.
And on a side note, I guess that I should ask myself twice about helping noobs when their needs become so... exquisite. Meh, consider this post a monument to my first time being scammed.

lol, you weren't scammed at all, not if you gave the Noctis freely with no expectations in return.

I was going to clean this up, but I cannot see any redeeming content after about the first 3/4 of a page. So:
