Med power slot Damage Modules

I thought it might be interesting if there was some discussion of the pros and cons to adding such modules.
If they did exist, I envisioned they might work somewhat like tracking computers versus tracking enhancers; the low power module is the passive version, the medium power module is active. They would use cap and have scripts to choose between rate of fire (higher dps) and damage modifier (higher alpha).

What do you guys think?
Would this add interesting new fitting/strategic possibilities to EVE?
Would this totally bust the game?
Discuss!

As long as the modules were hybrid-affecting only. I'm not seeing why minmatar/amarr should get access to them.

A medium fit module that increased your guns' optimal while activated would perhap go a long long way to solving or helping blaster users. Not so much with railguns, but then again, a script could reduce the optimal to make them work inside scram range.

You mean a tracking computer with an optimal range script then?

@ OP, we have stuff like tracking computers, target painters and webs, which will all help your damage, what more do you want? (Besides a suicide tempest with 15-20k alpha)

@Morgan North
Tracking computers do what you describe

@Danika Princip
Tracking comps/target painters/webs all effect damage projection, but don't do anything to tweak max theoretical dps/volley output, which matters if you've controlled the other necessary engagement parameters to your benefit. A suicide tempest with 15-20k alpha would be pretty neat. Lol But of course, if that would even be possible depends on the module stats, and if it was, keep in mind it'd be achieving those numbers at the expense of range/speed/targeting boosts/any of the regular things people currently fit on suicide tempest mid slots.

The idea is to expand the range of possible fitting tradeoffs one could choose by adding some new modules, which may or may not get used a lot, and may or may not break the game or increase its depth and complexity. Smile

No, current system is fine. Adding a DPS boosting module in medium slots would be super hard for CCP to balance and they have better things to do.
