I never thought too much about this until I responded to another topic, but why shouldn't my PC handle putting the shader setting to High? I get 100s of fps (I've seen it top 300 at times), but Vsync to a constant 60fps, but dust clouds in exploration sites lower my fps (depending on how close) to 20-30 fps. If I change the shader to medium then I can sit comfortably at 60+ fps, but of course lower image quality.

CPU: i7-4790K
GPU: R9-290X

Overclocking either doesn't really change much since the game is so easy to run anyway. Out of morbid curiosity I re-installed the game but that didn't change anything.

Just say NO to Dailies

The main difference between "Medium" and "High" settings is that "High" performs a second pass for dirt maps. You should get roughly twice the frame rate when set to "Medium," but it sounds like either way you're getting playable frame rates, from what you've said.

Is there any chance that we will be able to disable the dust clouds all together? There is no point to them other than to obscure vision and lower frame rate.

There is, though it disables a host of other various effects along with it. I forget which one, but it's one of the toggle options in the center list of graphics along with turret effects, Asteroid Environments, and such.

Still would like to disable just clouds and not half of Eve's effects, kind of defeats the purpose. My 2 isk.
