Quick question: If I were to accidentally find myself in possession of items from another person's wreck, do they receive a helpful message telling them that I am the one with their property? Thanks in advance!

Hello Hans Tesla,

If you take from a yellow container they will be free to attack you at will. See http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Container_and_wreck_ownership for more information.

I hope this answered your question. If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks for the answer. I get that part, I guess my question is whether the owner of the wreck receives a message when their items are stolen or if the owner would have to rely on their Overview to determine if someone stole something from them. Thanks!

I've had a couple of guys steal loot from my wrecks recently (in a newbie career tutorial system, which I'm surpised isn't a bannable offence as it's clearly a baiting technique).

I didn't see any message, just the pilots going red.

No, you don't receive any notification when someone else has an aggression timer against you.

If it was a tutorial areas it is bannable. Report them.

To answer the question directly,

No, no message is flagged up on the person you steal from. He just has to see you red on the overview. Short of that they have no other note or popup. Just remember, not only him are you red to, but his entire corporattion.

And yes, any form of greifing, including can baiting and stealing from missions in a starter system, is a bad idea and will get a waring from a GM, not to mention low and pathetic.

I would, if I could remember either of their names. Sad

When I was all yellowish and had a bounty, I had to go to a starter system to pick up some stuff at the station. On the undock, no word of a lie, I must of been shot at by at least 15 velators. The station guns got each and every one of them.

Half a hour later a warning from a GM pops up. I explained the situation, and it was reversed. But they do take newb harrasment seriously.

Maybe bit late but:

The owner will get some sort of notification, namely you will appear as flashy red as you stole from them and they can now shoot you. other then that there is no notifications or other way they will see you stole their stuff.

Keep in mind, canflipping / wreck flipping new players in starting systems is one of the minor grieving offences that can get you banned. In any other system canflipping / wreck flipping is just a problem for the people who is stupid enough to leave them float around to long unattended

Player corporation and npc corporations work a little different, when you’re in a player corporation you wrecks drop for the entire corp, they will be white not yellow and any one in that corporation can loot them. thing is, npc corporations will mark them the same way, so players in an npc corporation will still see white wrecks, but you cannot loot these without triggering aggression, and will be warned if you attempt to do so.

As far as knowing if someone has looted your container when you’re not there, as previously mentioned, there is no pop up warning. but this I do know, when someone has aggression it shows in local, had someone loot some stuff in a plex, and there aggression was showing in local.
Now I'm not shure if they need to be on grid with you before it triggers local or not, but for now I am assuming if cans are being left in hopes that someone will loot them, then you can scan local and watch for aggression that way.

So if someone loots someone else's wreck, and they are flagged as fair game for the owner and the corp, how long does that last? Is it possible to loot a wreck and run for the nearest station to lie low?

When you steal from a yellow wreck OR can, you become red to that ENTIRE CORP.

CONCORD and the Station guns WILL NOT shoot at you. So, yes you can dock at the station and wait out aggro.

Aggro will last 15 minutes, and a countdown can be seen in the upper left corner of your screen. Yellow aggro counter means you are only aggro to a certain corp or person, hovering your mouse over the aggro counter will tell you who you are aggro to.

Yes, unless you are tackled... or killed. You can dock at stations, jump the gates and warp freely. CONCORD (station and gate sentry guns) will not shoot at you.
