Haha, I would probably do the same thing.

I also would like to know where he got his 40mm Glock. Never knew they were into anti-aircraft artillery too. Lol

Kinda since it's a good idea to be at peace with the neighbors, ...I'd mount a bb gatling gun on one and soot it down! Pirate

Nah, I'd just knock on his door and let him know I have a no-fly zone over my acreage. Drones are cool, personally owned hobby ones anyway. I have a neighbor with an ultralight runway on his property, and people have flown all sorts of stuff around here for years. No big deal. I'm more concerned about idiots firing into the air around here, we have target ranges for that P

Can't wait for the next news.

"10 years old shot dead by stray bullet aimed at drone"
"Armed drone shoots back trespasser"
"Anti-drone neighborhood patrol accidentally downs medical drone carrying organ"

It's the USA; like your regular stupid, but with firearms. What?

First. I am a great supporter of shooting down private drones.

However... "what goes up, MUST come down". In view of that fact, I am aiming toward small laser and/or small railgun.

It's actually the other way around. There was a wildfire a week or so ago where the firefighting helicopters had to be waved off because SOME *******'S DRONE was flying around filming the burning cars and people trying not to die. Earlier today a commercial aircraft almost got hit by one. A bird made out of squishy fleshy bits can cause enough damage to bring down airliners; it's only a matter of time before some inconsiderate jackass kills several hundred people because they were playing with their 'sick drone, bruh.'

Prepare for a lot more drones getting shot down, and good riddance.

In Spain, the initial legislation for flying drones was released just a few months ago.

In order to operate a drone in open air, you need a pilot license, with tougher matters and requirements as drone cathegory increases. The only place where it is legal for John Doe to fly his toy drone without a license, is in a closed environment, by "closed" meaning there are no holes/gaps large enough to let the drone out.

This legislation may be subject to revision as the UE may (or may not) approve standard regulations for drone operation, but the point is very simple: flying a drone is ilegal unless you have a license, and the license is meant to ensure you studied and acquired the knowledge necessary to fly a drone in that cathegory (legislation included).

As for filming from a drone, it can be done w/o requirements if the drone never reaches above the buildings. It is necessary to notify the authorities if the drone will rise higher, and always for drones above 5 kg in weight (Cat. II and above). It is forbidden to fly over crowds or densely populated areas, but permissions can be asked and granted for specific tasks. A flight plan msut be submitted to request a permission. Also there are no-exception exclusion areas around airports. Last, all drones Cat.II and above must have a plate number.

I guess that just letting anyone buy a drone and fly it as he feels like until someone shoots it down is just a more "freedom loving" way to deal with new tecchnologies and their intersection with plain old Stoopid.

In the US we can't fly them in national parks, military bases, major airports or under temporary flight restrictions. Nothing wrong with flying them responsibly, just like any RC model having been flown for many decades. And last I checked, people were not suppose to shoot any type of aircraft down, which in itself is more dangerous than the drone itself. In the case of drones flying in restricted areas, I'm sure that is at the discretion of law enforcement or military personnel to assess the situation and respond appropriately in consideration to risk of bodily injury and/or loss of human life.

I just wonder why those guys were scoping out the other neighbor's yard with the drone? "We weren't spying on you, we were spying on your neighbor."

Edit: Also, lol about the 40mm Glock. More reasons to believe everything your read. I mean, it's a published journalism story, right?

a 40mm Glock round... let's see....

the bullet would weight 1800 grains and take 48 grains of powder to launch at the same power factor as what the Glock really is, a 40 caliber which is 10mm. Though the 40. round has fallen out of favor for being too weak. A cast lead .40 for example won't even penetrate a surplus flack vest HALF THE TIME (the other half when it does get through will be from anybody who reads this and tries to get shot in a flak vest).

As for the drones... well.... there are better ways to catch your neighbors role-playing their sick fetishes so you can blackmail them later. Just sayin.

A drone could mount a 40mm Glock firearm-- an EVE drone, that is. Smile

Silly, I'm not disagreeing with you at all. I think they need to be legislated sensibly. I can only hope the US adopts similar regulations. ♥

It would be simply epic to mount tiny guns on a drone and dogfight other drones.

Oh yeah! Don't forget your protective eyewear though. Smile

Have you seen the RC battleship fights? Some clubs use CO2 BB guns. The group in the video uses ball bearings fires by CO2-powered cannons. "Boys never grow up-- they just get better toys."
