Launcher says "only supports dx9" win 10 with radion 6970

on my windows 7 i was able to run direct x 11 since this is a full direct x 11 card , so why does with windows 10 pro 64bit eve says only supports dx9 o.O?


i have a Radion HD 6970 2gb card

launching the game and then closing it out seems to fixed it for the launcher?

I have heard of issues that when you install Win 10, it installs the wrong drivers for the video card. You may need to update the video card drivers manually using device manager.

Last time I was active, a CCP had said that the Eve Client isn't quite completely compatible with Windows 10 as of yet. That could've changed since my hiatus, and be out of date info, so don't quote this as gospel.

What I do know is that even with Windows 7 or 8.0-8.1, DirectX11 has been a source of many complaints that only vanish with switching to DirectX9. So it might not be Windows 10, but DirectX as a lingering headache for the client and Launcher.

Just what I've noticed, user mileage may vary.

I'm running Windows 10 Professional x64 and I use a single Radeon 6970. I had some issues at first but this is what I did to fix it.

a) Run the launcher as an administrator
- This stopped that pesky error preventing the launcher from updating.

b) Go to AMD's website and download the latest drivers for your card for Windows 10. I never trust Windows Update with video card drivers. I've never really had luck with it in the past.
-This increased performance and I'm able to play the game using DX11. I can't say about DX9, I haven't tried honestly.

The best path is the hardest earned.
