My Ishtar's Target Lock Range has Dropped

Hi Space Friends,

I love to PVE in my Ishtar. Somewhere during the last month something changed and I cannot find an article about it.

I used to lock on to my target at range ~95 and now i have to get to 65 before I can lock. No changes to the ship fitting.

Can someone point me to an announcement that explains this nerf? My google powers failed me.

Thank you.

I am not in a Wormhole. I have tested this in multiple regions and situations. That's a pretty giant nerf for people not to be jabbering about it, so I figured I missed something.

It's fine. CCP can actually cut your reduced locking range in half again and you'll still be out of point range for most ships. Your margin to actual danger is still far exceeds any values specified in New Eden safety manuals. You will be OK.

The down side is that if CCP nerfs the ishtar 2 more times and still leaves the sentries I fear they will just give up and leave it as a useless mess (all because they are too stubborn to admit sentries on a cruiser hull is just a bad idea now that modules buffing drones have been added to the game).

CCP - You're amazing. That several 100 folks can huddle together and be collectively more stubborn than my wife is nothing short of astonishing. What do you actually do to the reasonable folks?? Gags? Termination? Denial of bathroom access? It has to be illegal.

Post your fit. Something is not right, the Ishtar did not have it's lock range nerfed afaik.

No, because it's a high sec mission fit. I'll post the fit when I get home, but as I said the fit has not changed.

Do the stabs reduce lock range?

Also, your Ishtar lost a midslot so you could have not noticed a Sebo offline.

New Eden isn't nice. It isn't friendly. It isn't very hospitiable. Good thing there are people here to shoot in the face.

Sounds plausible but don't think so, base lock range with 0 skills is 80km with all 5s it should be 100km.

It was implied with my question, with the added bonus of exposing what if any bling he has on his fit. Twisted

I think you have probably solved the riddle. I did not realize I lost a mid and I probably had a second Sebo II on it. This would certainly account for a big chunk of the loss.

I don't think you can undock with new ship changes.
But yeah, I think you nailed it.

Heavies aren't much better even. Leave out tackle as you did for sentry gangs, and you're left with 6.5km/s praetors with 1.3/s tracking... (that's about twice an unbonused gecko's)

Heavies are fine. They hurt, but the don't instantly swap targets. They have to run you down. You can't assign a bunch of praetors and get a string of insta pops on ships. If nothing else you have to tackle the primary or he has the option to warp out before all the praetors get to him.

The OP part is where 20+ ishtars act like an insta-kill death ray from 100km away. Heavy transport time will remove the OP part of the ishtar. You have to get rid of the insta kill part. Don't get me wrong, insta kill is OK, but it's OP when you can repeat it 40 times in a minute by alternately pressing 2 buttons.

So far they have tweeked a few ranges, but refused to address the 40 insta pops / minute cycle from way outside of tackle range - which is the actual OP issue.

TL/DR: heavies are fine, sentries are bad.
