Capsuleers don't want NPC Customs to find out about this simple trick

If storing 1m³ in an NPC station would cost 1ISK/day, local markets, sov industry and logistics would actually have a meaning.

While you make this statement like the result is self-evident it is not

Exaxtly what does this do for the game, what are the positives it adds to the game other than arbitrary expenses?

Yawn,  I'm right as usual. The predictability kinda gets boring really.

Ah well, you got a point there.

Currently there is nothing stopping you from taking all your non-trivial assets to jita and let them rot there. Transportation of goods in highsec is safer compared to low/null, meaning that people can skrew you over on a highsec hauling run if you don't do a few precautions, as opposed to other parts of space where people can skrew you over regardless of safety meausures taken.

You got comparably safe afk-hauling capabilities and infinite, free and safe storage in high security. More precise, storing all your goods in an NPC station is the smartest choice there is, cause you can lose SOV, your corp can be wardecced and your POS leveled, a production wormhole is just silly and can be evicted at any time if your competition can invest more into suitable mercenaries. To add: Your goods on the market wouldn't be affected by this.
I don't run sufficiently large volumes to call myself a dedicated industrialist (not by a longshot, I just build T3-components on one character), but a good way of dealing with industry is to store all your goods in a station and have a production pos nearby. With minimal hauling, you got your assets safe beyond reach - and a suitable facility to run a competitive business.

Now given storage would cost arguably trivial amounts of money (1ISK for every m³ in your NPC-hangars at downtime), you'd either have slightly lower margins due to associated costs than risk-taking producers that store goods in vulnerable spots to avoid those, with the goal of turning owned potentially vulnerable corp-assets - if only to store tritanium - into a prereq for optimal margins. By having those storage costs not apply to player-owned facilities (POS, conquerable outposts), it should reduce the advantage of empire-production compared to null-production further, while keeping a way for empire-industrialists to sustain their current margins at the expense of a freighter run and having a bunch of additional CHAs anchored.

Tl;dr: It would move low-value, bulky goods out of stations into storage POSes (I guess). You can threaten those POSes and force interaction over assets at risk. You can leave those truly valuable items like BPOs or officer modules at an NPC station and won't notice the cost, but if the caldari navy has to deal with your 34.66mil units of tritanium, they want money for it.

I like this idea, but in order to not affect noobs, I'd suggest that the charge only apply above a certain limit, tbd by CCP

more stuff getting pushed out of perfectly safe places into spots it can be blown up can only be good for the isk-conomy

For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it WILL be.

before you log out, just private contract all your stuff to an alt. this does nothing.

So, I currently have a production plant set-up in an NPC station as the POS system is neither usable from a system's/mechanic's point of view nor feasible for my usage scenarios.
For instance, I only invent stuff every other month or so and in the meantime store the POS assets in a station. With your suggestion implemented, I would pay for something I cannot use for various reasons and do not want to leave in space because of clutter and manageability.
Or my occasional mineral buying extravaganzas: If I buy minerals, I buy several Charons full of minerals in a given region via Buy Orders and let them in the stations until all BOs are filled. Do you want to suggest that I fly around every day and collect these minerals, bring them to several POS (as POS can't hold these amounts of minerals, see above) and then transfer them from these POS to other POS in other systems where I actually produce? Or else I won't have paid 5 ISK for the Tritanium but 500 ISK accumulated over time?

This is your idea of balanced and feasible gameplay?

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.
