I don't think it's a scam, you see corps with terrible ceos with no business running even a cold all the time.

I used to believe in nipping these things in the bud, one nice awox on the ceo when he least expects it and you can crush it. But nope, now they get to metastasize and you can't get at the ceo, only it's innocent members. But that's good for retention, right?

A stunningly beautiful missy

There is nothing finer, cept when they get all pissy

What I gleaned out of this? Their CEO appears to be a heartless wretch who is willfully mass recruiting cannon fodder without taking a moment to give the slightest warning of what they're getting into.

What concerned me is why that CEO would specifically recruit newbies, whilst under wardec. Is he simply a well-intentioned but terrible CEO who had visions of bringing in newbies and training them up into PvP pilots, but allowed them to get slaughtered due to ineptitude?

Or is it shenanigans designed to provide easy fodder for killboard-padding deccers?

Considering the sheer number of losses over the course of several months, plus the fact that the CEO has no activity on Zkillboard I strongly suspect it's the latter.

It's called tax-skimming. Lazy ******* recruits tons of clueless players, who, being new will be grinding isk, and sits there skimming the tax rate without doing anything. Happens every day in hundreds of highsec corps. As far as the CEO is concerned, "wardec, so what?". Ok, its cutting in to the bottom line, but he isn't doing anything anyway, so just recruit more, someone will generate that tax rate for him.

Then someone opens their mouth in local, or does one of the million things that **** other people off on the internet, and blam wardec (or merc contract). And shock-horror, a wardec with lots of kills tends to get renewed.

People are thinking far too deeply in to this. This is what Hisec is (there is a reason I'm not there, screw having to jump through all those hoops to shoot some guy I want to shoot).

Yesterday a new alt of mine parked in a noob system received a recruitment mail from a corp purporting to be looking for new players, which suggested the 0.0% tax rate as an incentive to join.

Their recruitment spiel set my alarm bells ringing and failed to mention that they were under wardec, so I checked them on Zkillboard:

Destroyed: 8
Lost: 518
Efficiency: 1.5%

A good 50% or so of their losses are noob T1 ships in highsec, and all of the pilots I checked were created in July.

This corp is only 5 months old, and yet it has 8 completed wars and 3 active wars. It looks to me as if this corp has been created entirely as a trap for new players so that wardeccers can get easy kills.

Is CCP ok with this?

And you think that is not good why? You will LEarn way more on that environment than on a fantasy condition that will not endure.

These people losign t1 noob ships are not exactly loosing much are they? But they are gaining a LOT of experience.

So...we have some sort of thread started by an alt, about someone we really could care less about, using mechanics that may or may not be legal, and this is running on assumptions?

Very much so.

We are hardly the first corp to have our way with them,
admittedly we are considerably better at hunting them than anyone else has been but that's hardly evidence of anything more than we are good at what we do.

It's like gloating how awsome your boxing skills are after you punched 20 kids of age 3 in the face .... Shocked.

Those guys lost 500+ ships in one month worth ONLY 3.9 B total.Calling it a turkeyshoot would be an understatement.

As member of OTHER mercenary corp all I can say is. If someone pay us to kill peopel from a corp, it is not our fault that they are horrible. They shoudl have tought the consequences before pissing whoever payed for the contract.

THe Vast majority of the war dec whinners are people that were rude, arrogant and assholes with someone that decided to use his pocket to vengeance.

Eve is a harsh game, not only in chat, you collect whatever you seeded.

Poor attempt at trying to shift the blame.

There is nothing in any of the Opportunities or Career missions that teaches new players about wardecs. They get a mail saying "Hi, join my awesome corp! 0.0% tax!" and being noobs they hit the apply button, because they think it's just like joining a guild or whatever. How are they supposed to know what they're in for?

People forget what it's like to be totally new in this game.

People did that in WoW when players generated gold for the guild bank just by questing etc.

However the corp in question has a 0.0% tax rate.

Learning the hard way is definitely part of EVE, no qualms with that at all. It's part of what makes this game so good.

But griefing rookies is against the EULA, and, it has to be said, pretty lame. IF that's what is going on here.

I have been wondering whether the CEO just wanted to be a CEO of a corp with many members... ego stroking.

Difficult to know, although I'd be surprised if there was any innocent reason behind it.

Still if someone has filed a ticket, I'm sure CCP will at least investigate and in doing so they'll have more idea than us.

Okay, now here's the funny thing.
Take a look at this thread and the corp in question and you'll see some glaring similarities, yet equally immense differences.

https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=434569&find=unread

We're talking about another massive corp that is composed mostly of newbies under wardec from another highsec merc alliance. Their reaction? They form a 200 man frigate/dessie/kitchen sink blob and take the fight to their front door.
End result is a dead Loki on one occasion, and another dead Loki on another occasion when they do it again.

Most of these guys are just as young as the corp currently being discussed, but the serious difference is in leadership. The second corp communicated and coordinated and lashed back as best they knew. They then learned from what happened and tried to adapt their tactics to make it work better.

One of these corps will go far, the other one is in need of euthanasia.

Come hell or high water, this sick world will know I was here.

The bears that cry to Save the Noobs! Dont actually give abkjt them. They just want the game safer for them and to continue to tax and exploit the noobs.

Actually I do agree. Griefing rookies is bad. From what I can tell their CEO is a griefer of the highest order and should be brought to task for what he's done.
As far as his minions go, well unfortunately when you undock with someone's flag next to your name you have just become a soldier in their army as such.

As a merc I'm not a decider, I'm a trigger puller. Someone has PAID for harm to be done to the targets, so when someone with that flashy red star next to their name pops into my field of view I will shoot them if I can reasonably get away with it. I quite literally do not care how old they are, how nice they are, or how much pr0n they have linked in their bio. They are wearing the colors of the enemy and they get the red hot poker as a result.

Come hell or high water, this sick world will know I was here.

You are still talking bullpoo. There is an obligation to any new player to learn before pushing buttons. There are numerous sites where you can learn about the game and also in-game. You put the blame on the wrong people not me. You were new once too and so was I. I informed myself before I undocked. May I conclude you were stupid enough to join one of these bait corps when you were new?

In a noob ships they have perhaps 5 to10 seconds of being shot in that ship and then 3 seconds after being in their pod they are in a station, what a massive experience that was...

When the going gets tough the Gankers get their CSM rep to change mechanics in their favour.

there is a difference when people are not even allowed to finish the trial before getting hellcamped and slaughtered in the hundreds stop trying to blame day old noobs because they dont understand mechanics, not everyone reads pages and pages of text before playing a game.

yeah this might be the ceo of the corps fault but mercs are not innocent here they research targets before taking contracts so what did they think when they looked at this killboard and seen the death count and age of players? did they just think yeah thats normal lets dec them and teach them how to play by killing them 5 times in the space of 5 minutes

If find it astounding how much excuses are pulled to excuse lame play.

Yeah cool if a corps of newbs manage to fight back.
But that will hardly happen, when the CEO is a merc alt, that tries hard to fill the killboards of his merc corps with newbie kills.

Yeah newbs could be better prepared, yepp, EvE is harsh and Yepp thats still lame.
Just like a certain other group it spices up hisec, but that game play still is lame.
And so are those players.
Lame like their play, lame like their excuses -> lame.

But since you can not or do not want to understand, you will, like always, come to that douche-conclusion.
I could elaborate further, but disliked arguments will be ignored by the likes of yours and i do not give a sh?t if you understand.

I am just having a hard time grasping the idea that albeit a new player, is not able to read, ask questions but mindlessly spamming buttons randomly to end up in a corp that has a big bulls eye on their foreheads
