I am rather happy with the start of the new Eve book.

This is a huge improvement over the last eve novel about selma and louis, some peacenik blood drinker and their silly adventure against...whoever.

Then I just found out you (ccp) actually fired Tony Gonzalez who authored the new book....X

More of this kind of sci-fi is super, lots of gloom and doom, millions die every day, yadayadayada. mmm goodBig smile

You already have your copy? You bastard, it's not even released yet. Don't you dare post spoilers. I still have to wait for Amazon to release the damn thing and then wait weeks for them to ship it to Australia. Evil

Oh, I usually lag behind this kind of stuff. I was just perusing the new release area at a local barnes and noble and saw it on the shelf. Even comes with bonus QR code content. Tech specs not released in the game yet, at least that is what the description says.

dunno ... most recent ones were dropbear and abraxis...

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

I did a search about the book before I posted. Brought up a topic about Tony G. being canned along with 20% of ccp staff here a little while ago. Would be nice if he keeps the stories coming as a freelancer. I like the atmosphere he brings, gritty.

Well not all of the 20% got 'fired' most have been 'relocated' into different positions which technically is still a firing because your closing a previous position avialable elsewhere.

And ccp probably did some talking to other companies with similar projects and asked them to take the rest of them back on.

I'm well into it atm. Kindle ftw, though the hyperlinks don't work, despite the fact that they're aimed at e-readers...

been out sicne the third here in the US. i picked it up on the 4th at my local barnes and noble.

qr codes are scannable barcodes. use a barcode scanning app on a smartphone and it'll load (in the case) a weblink to an image or somesuch. the one at the beginning fo chapter one goes to a nice image of the eve gate.

and if you don't have a smartphone to scan with, fear not: the url is printed right there next to the scannable thingy.

That book was made by one of the most awful writers ever which I will refrain from writing his name here.

TonyG on the other hand , despite all of his flaws as a writer, feels sometimes like a guy that actually played the game instead of someone that saw CCP's videos and decided the game was like them and decided to focus on the awesomeness of describing moot details in the lives of totally pointless fictional people tying it badly to a megaplot that can only be glued together by the power of a bad 10 year old Dungeon Master high on Snickers+mountain dew+doritos madness.

TonyG though, is bit more personal while keeping focus on the evolving story, that's my view.

And yeah, CCP fired him meh :/

Yeah, sounds about right... Jan 3rd was the American release. I'm in the UK, and Amazon won't allow me to buy it from the .com site - I need to wait, apparently, 'til the UK/EU release on the 26th...

My only real option, if I won't wait, is to buy the hard-copy and have it posted over.
