Variable afterburner speeds !?!

When running my afterburner on my Tengu, my speed according to EFT should be 606 m/s. Sometimes it is. Most times, however it's running a top speed of about 457 m/s.

There seems to be no pattern that I can discern. Sometimes flying around a station I will get 606 m/s, sometimes 457 m/s.

When doing missions for agents I usually only get 457 m/s, but ocasionally the full 606 m/s.

Does anyone know what's happening to lower my speed so frequently?

precision misilles are worthless use cn heavies :P

Wow, it's that difficult a challenge is it? Could it be a bug that I need to report to CCP?

I've even occasionally noticed that after I turn the afterburner on, it will accelerate towards the 606 m/s then suddenly throttle back to 457 m/s after a couple of seconds. Frustrating.

I think Saniye nailed it. It ain't a bug.

U usin precision missiles? They screw up your max. speed man.

Thanks Highfive, I totally missed that. Ammunition affecting one's speed? I would never have thought of looking there as the source of the problem. :)

The earlier posts while accurate, seemed totally off topic and typical of of the hazing people who are 'not in the know' often receive. That's why I didn't twig to their comments at all.
