Ok everyone calm down. MooMoo nobody is trying to commit "cultural appropriation" we are simply embracing an established concept and trying to make it fit within Eve a bit more. The Jovian disease has no cannon regarding it's origin as near as we can tell, if you know different please share.

There is plenty of examples of religiuos splinter factions both real world and within Eve online and an example would be with the Amarrian religion with the Sani Sabik.

So in short we are not trying to steal anything from anybody. We make no claim on creating Bob or Bob belonging to us infact re reference the former authors in future writings that should be available in the morning. If you don't want to RP that is fine it's your $15, but lets try to keep it civil.

I think to be considered a religious splinter faction you would usually need to start off as a part of that religion.

Yeah, well, it's just like my opinion, man.

An interesting point, however, who is to say who was or wasn't part of a religion? We followed Bob after our own fashion previously.

If you are referring specifically to the Church of Bob, a specific organization, then I see where you are coming from. However, for example, the Nazarene Church is not the only church in Christianity and the other churches that are newer did not come from the Nazarenes. There is not necessarily a lineage, although there can be.

And there is nothing to say a whole new church could not spring up on its own. Splinter faction would imply what you are saying, and possibly not the best term to be used here, depending upon how you define the "original" religion. In the end, it doesn't really matter.

Prouentibus Bob, whether splinter or entirely new is still a "church" that follows Bob. Just as Jews, Muslims and Christians all follow God, even though they are each very different. I would say entire new religion might be closer as we are fundamentally different in at least one glaring aspect: You (or whoever) hold that Bob was originally a man that became a god, while we hold that Bob was always a god and furthermore is the Creator of New Eden. There are other very fundamental differences as well.

So, if a religion comes along later (like Christianity after Judaism and Islam) and has a god of the same name, are they guilty of "cultural appropriation?" What of other cults/religions of non-Abrahamic origin that still call their god God? All believe their god is the one true god and creator, yet their versions of god are all different, yet they share the same name generally (referred to as "God", although several also give him other names on top of that).

Those who originally coined the concept of Bob should not be worried that somehow credit is being stolen from them, as we are being clear that we coexist with the original, we just think it is not the truth. We are springboarding from the concept of a god of wormholes, commonly known as Bob thanks to those who were before us (and I would add that we see Bob not as god of wormholes but god of all hidden places and that New Eden itself is a hidden place with hidden places inside it). Very similar to RL. If they had not done such a good job of making the name Bob synonymous with the god of wormholes and an accepted part of the unofficial lore, then likely our god would have a different name. The original forefolk of the idea of Bob have done a wonderful thing in adding an interesting emergent aspect to the game as a whole. We have no desire to steal credit for that, nor would it be possible anyway. The fact that we kept Rob and Stan in our own story should be seen as a nod to the original concept and creators of the concept, as was intended by including them.

Seriously, it doesn't seem worth arguing about. We are not claiming ties to whatever you consider the original religion to be, we are just following the same (or possibly not, in many ways) deity. It is roleplay and adding another piece of story to New Eden. I don't think that adding a level of religious conflict is an uninteresting addition, and I think it opens up the possibility of even more content for players. It may not prove to be so, but there is at least that possibility. It is certainly a source of content for us, and we hope to grow it into content for other players outside of Prouentibus Bob if we can. Let's not forget that this is a game.

I for one pledge my loyalty un to thee. I consider you the modern day Martin Luther of Bobism and old relics and artifacts of the old ways of bob shall be eliminated at any chance. I will destroy all blue loot and salvage at an opportunity as they are testaments to the old heathen ways. Do not listen to these heretics.... continue to preach... develop.... and grow.

over the years, weve had plenty of people trying to institutionalize bob and write stuff down

fortunately, bob is impervious to these efforts

Why should the ethereal deities get all the crazies?

I am now taking applications from potential worshipers.

The Book of Dusette cannot be published in this hallowed, family friendly subsection though just think 'Fifty Shades of Iso5' and you'll get a general idea. Ideal candidates should be open minded and have toxin/disease free clone who also posess:

- Superb coffee making skills
- Dexterous hands (for hair braiding)
- Ability to multitask (I have a lot of sisters with hair too)
- Skill at washing Tengus & Barghests
- Skill at polishing Legions and goggle lenses
- Ability to scan so I never have to
- Skill at knowing when to shut up
- Ability to laugh at my jokes and be amazed by my dank stories
- Not be Andrew Jester
- Ability to make me feel special and worshiped daily
- A strong dislike of nullsec (but willing to secretly visit anyway)
- Skill at or a willingness to learn waxing techniques

Brutors and skilled masseurs also given high preference.

Apply within, your Anoikin Goddess awaits.

The collection is growing.

Just pissed I couldn't be there in the Banana flesh and had to send a couple of Boss's altar girls. I guess I must have angered Bob somehow after all... Next Time™.
