How about commercials made by players broadcasted by CCP on twitch? Lol

I'm fairly sure when you hand it over to CCP they can do with it what they will.

I'm stupid, could someone link me to the issue and why this was done?

(I don't watch EVE streams).

{quote} Please be aware, however, that videos featuring our games, gameplay, or using our intellectual property may not be used to advertise products you are selling unless you are an authorized CCP partner or distributor (and even then, you may only sell authorized CCP products).

Bit confused, the way I read this, prohibits this running on twitch or anything with a "subscribe" button for cost. Knowing a very popular eve news website has a paid button on their streams, would like to see this clarified. To me, that button is advertising.

Any giveaway ,be they raffles, prizes, whatever can't be gated behind the sub, they have to be freely available for non subscribers.

I'm confused by this too. I was under the impression that CCP only cares about this sort of thing when the entity in question is making money that otherwise would have gone to CCP. ISK trading for example.

If using the game, gameplay or intellectual property to advertise a product/service you profit from is against the rules, any monetized EVE website that uses images, videos or streams from/of the game as a means of drawing in viewers would be breaking the rules. This includes the news websites and blogs with ads as well as paid streamers.

They have their hands in the pot when it comes to the streaming revenue which explains the exception there, but from what I understand they don't earn any bucks from the ad revenue generated on news and blogging pages.

What really confuses me then is why is using gameplay video to advertise a product you are selling any worse than using gameplay video to advertise a site you make ad revenue from? In both cases a private entity makes a profit while CCP loses nothing. Is there another exception to the rules made if the product/service you are selling is a news website? That's a serious question; it helps expose the game to the public so it makes sense to support those sites.

Does this mean that selling video guides for real world money is not allowed anymore?
