Salvage Missions

I can't imagine how many people will laugh at this post, but I thought salvage missions would be an interesting addition. I would think they'd be combat and salvage combined with the salvage element of the mission being required to complete the mission. The challenge would be increased, of course, by forcing the participant to go to low sec and null sec (or wh, perhaps). Getting both ships in and out in one piece in these areas wouldn't be easy. I'd imagine they'd be fun and add a dimension to the salvage aspect of the game, which I enjoy tbh.

Anyway, I'm just thinking outside the box. I'm sure every bomber (or pirate) pilot out there would enjoy preying on these sites, but I'd imagine they prey on mission sites already.

In any event, it'd be challenging and encourage people to advance the skills in that particular Ore discipline.

Edit: also make mission wreck fields scannable so a noctis can warp to them and clean them up without a tractor unit. i think players would appreciate not having to look at so much garbage on their overview.

Go back and re-think this. Come up with a basic framework for salvage missions that do not require the combat component and come back and we can discuss it.

I second this post. Only thing that it doesn't do is generating LP. But who cares, less annoyance with conversion.

It's not a terrible idea. I am on board with every aspect of EVE having some kind of NPC generated 'missions' attached to it to provide a more organic learning path for how to do stuff.

Want to be a salvager? Fine. Find an appropriate station/agent, and start receiving jobs to go forth and do the task chosen. An option to apply as a new applicant can give you step by step instructions during the mission for at least the basic bare bones of how to accomplish the task.

But all combat missions turn out to be salvage missions.
