One of my alts was ganked and podded a few days ago while mining in a fleet op in high-sec. Earlier in local chat while 3 CODE members where on I was told that AFK, BOT, Fleet or ALT mining would be no longer allowed. You must stay in local chat to answer a question asked of you (usually in Russian(which I don't know)). I was also told that I would be podded over and over again till I ether bough a permit or quit playing. well CCP doesn't seem to care unless they follow you around. players justify this saying:

Quote:
Gankers are not exploiting game mechanics, they accept the penalties and plan around them, they are simply making better use of existing mechanics than their targets are.

Not true, here's a quote from MinerBumping's web site:

Quote:
Concord has a range of 150km. If they're already in the ice field and you attack a Mackinaw within 150km, they will stop you instantly. But if Concord is 150km or more away, they may as well be on the moon. They'll take the entire 18 seconds to respond. Most miners are unaware of this, so when they see umpteen Concord ships in the ice field, they'll assume they're safe. But if Concord is 150km away, the miner is actually less safe than if no Concord were in the system.

So to fix this they do this:

Quote:
Spawning Concord is easy, and they generally stay in system until the next downtime. Get your fleet into rookie ships (or any cheap ship with a gun) and have them fire on a secure container or something else that doesn't belong to them. Do it simultaneously, and you'll have a Concord squad spawned in for each of you. This will also draw away any Concord that may be loitering in the ice field.

That's EXPLOTING game mechanics.

Well I've trying submitting a ticket to resolve this issue, but CCP is more worried about Nul-sec than high-sec so it seems. after this post I'll be suspending all 7 of my accounts. I've been playing since December 2003 but this game has gone down since I started playing so much I can't enjoy it anymore. so farewell to all I WON'T be BACK!!

Well it was a good run of not having CODE. threads showing thrice every week.

EDIT: You've been playing since December 03 and only now, after buying seven accounts, are just getting annoyed at CODE?

Alpha, I am agent Tisiphone Dira, Knight of the New Order and Right Hand of James 315.

We in the New Order take customer satisfaction and complaints very seriously. Feel free to write me a mail detailing exactly what happened, how it made you feel, who was involved and how we can negotiate a peace between us.

Am I to understand that earlier (so before the gank) you were warned in local? And is it any moving of CONCORD you think is an exploit, for example when a miner moves concord to his belt to protect himself, is that an exploit? Or is it only when a ganker moves CONCORD away?

There once was a ganker named tisi

A stunningly beautiful missy

To gank a gross miner

There is nothing finer, cept when they get all pissy

I didn't realize Russian was the official language of CODE.? I am sure any Russian agents can put you in touch with someone who speaks English if you would like. Oh I see, Crabs Sticks; that is the Russian ganking corp of the CODE. Alliance.

Well regardless, you are mining in New Order space of course you are expected to answer questions in local. That is only polite when in another's territory. If you don't like this, you could move out of New Order territory, or you could just comply and get yourself a permit to stop being part of the problem of highsec, and become part of the solution.

Do you mean "exploiting" in the standard English "to use" definition, or "exploiting" in the bad, EULA-breaking sense. Because it certainly falls into the first definition as moving CONCORD is a legal use of game mechanics as confirmed by CCP.

You are now breaking the forum rules with this rage-fueled "quitting Eve" post. Why can't people ever just go quietly when they decide they are done with Eve?

Seriously?
Another one of these?
Already?
Can we get these things consolidated like they do in Features and Bad Ideas?

What Pedro said. The more you know. Nicely done sir Blink

Also, thank you for this post Alpha. I was doing some ganking before work and checking these forums for some tears during my 15min gcc and alas here you are!

Please actually read the EULA and ToS and try doing some research before you start throwing around the who's breaking what rule nonsense.

Thanks. Roll

I certainly agree with you op.

Just the other day I was in my freighter headed towards a system to pick up some ships for my friends. So I jump into Uedama and I'm aligning out and then all of sudden I'm being BUMPED!. I don't know whats going on.

The next thing I know I'm being attacked! Out of no where unprovoked! The next thing I know my ship is gone! One of the guys even podded me. They even started talking to me about following their code and I had no knowledge of this beforehand. How do these people expect others to follow their rules if they gank you first before talking to you about them?!

What is the sense of having highsec if we're just going to be ganked by people like code. PVP does not BELONG in highsec. ITS HIGH SECURITY SPACE FOR A REASON.

Code grew out of the ashes of the can-flipping/baiting community.

They are the product purchased with the new crimewatch mechanics.

The safety of your jet cans comes at a price.

Eve was built on a platform of risk. If they shut down code, there will be no risk remaining in high sec for many players. Even as counter-grief as CCP is at this point, I don't think they're going to be willing to eliminate all possible risk.

I can make my pitch again for bringing back can flipping...
