they can, just buy a SKIN from someone willing to sell. I bought 2 rattlesnake victory edition bpcs for ~2.4bil about the time they handed them out. I built and sold one, and I built and am still holding the second. A bit indecisive about whether I want to hold or sell it. don't really need the isk, but don't really care too much for SKINs either

Every player whether you buy skins or not benefits from the sale of skins. The more profit CCP makes the better they can afford to make the game. While CCP usually blows every possible angle they could use to make more money from EVE, in this case they copied someone elses idea and viola! profit.

Yawn,  I'm right as usual. The predictability kinda gets boring really.

I double posted. But i would like to add that its kind of BS to give a FACTION SKIN LICENSE as a prize to AT when us grunt scrubbies have been begging for this since release and ccp has said NOPE

We deserve Quafe skin license applicable to all gallente ships just like AT winmers get a Sansha Faction skin license.

Kinda BS guys

Supposedly we also deserve what otherwise is 120 bil ships, eh? P
Seriously though, just collect every Quafe skin out there. Done.

Unlike some people I know how how to appreciate CCP's efforts into streamlining the item database and make ship redering less intensive on the game and more efficient. Intead of getting the Nth ship variant that stays docked because of "risk aversion", we are getting cool looking ship customization items that not only are enduring, but allow us to fly without fear of being singled out because of it.

Because SKINs don't show on the Overview, unlike unique ship variants.

If you want to play zoomed out, more power to you, since CCP already cattered to that particular gameplay style with spiffy new icons. Oh wait, you guys hated that too. There's just no pleasing you people!

Funny part is how ccp caved in and gave the elite alliance torniment winners a SKIN LICENSE that applies to all Sansha ships instead of how it was orriginally gonna be a battleship skin.

Now the skin they win will apply to the nightmare and the succubus etc etc etc.

Just one license for an entire faction of ships.

Seriously why cant the average players get this option?

Double standard?

yeah i totally get you man, i mean id love to have a malice or a freki but damn those at winners for getting something unique for winning a tournament

Listen Wang

Im saying if ccp is introducing a new Faction Skin License anywhere any how in the game to anyone that allows them to have ONE skin license applicable to ALL SHIPS from that faction like they are giving the AT winners so they can use their Licemse to skin their Nightmares, Succubuses, Phantasms and Reverents... all from ONE SKIN LICENSE THAT WORKS ON ENTIRE FACTION OF SHIPS

They need to go ahead and introce others.

They dont "need" to do anything, an alliance tournament prizes are meant to be above and beyond what normal people have access to, if you want the skin go win the AT simple, i personally don't care what they are getting :P

I cant understand why CCP keeps providing New skins. It dont improve the game, its just useless eyecandy. I belive skins should be a free option when players build ships, not a aftermarked isksink. Can someone please explain me why CCP makes skins?

"Why does CCP make skins"
"they should be free"

Combine those two and you get "I want skins but I'm poor"

When ccp gets lots of money they do not use it on eve or "to make the game better" like all you people always say.

They funnel it out of eve errytime

World of Darkness Vampire MMO took and wasted millions and millions of dollars from eve and threw it sown the drain.
Dust514 took millions of dollars from ccp and has lost momey and iant profitable according to 2014 ccp finincial data.
They are making Valkyrie which is taking millions and millions of money from eve subscription and macrotransaction and funneling it out of eve and into different game.

Calm down and stop acting like a child, do you wanna know why they haven't released multi-hull skins? Technical reasons, releasing a tournament skinpack is far easier and quicker for them to create than skin licenses that are applicable to a huge amount of ships. They've already said they're aiming to have skin licenses that are applicable to a multitude of ships, but it takes time, and it has to be done properly, instead of some half assed attempt that causes technical issues, looks bad and hurts performance.

No, before you start spewing rubbish about that amazing bug we had when skins first came around, that bug highlighted the fact that the majority of skins either didn't work properly on most hulls, or simply looked awful.

Moss,

I didnt say it would be a winner....but if ccp want to invest in other avenues then what is wrong with that? they need to make money to survive, you sound like you have some super knowledge on ccp and the gaming industry in general so maybe you should advise ccp on how they should spend the money and where because you seem to know what is going to fail and what wont.

they are developing eve so what is the issue?

I have been playing for 3 days, still on my trial account ;)

Well, FWIW... The existance of multiple SKIN packs and the cutting of prices seems to indicate that CCP sees that some players wish for a particular theme on all their ships and that CCP is still working out the pricing for maximum return. I have to admit that the Syndicate skins are tempting.

I'm guessing you didn't see the skins that had complete blackouts, incorrect color schemes, screwed up resolution and the wildcard that was performance hits. Btw, that's not me believing everything I read, these issues were present ingame for everyone to see, they just chose to ignore it because "LOOK AT MY GOLD RAGNAROK GUYS!". The skins simply were not up to a standard, why release something that isn't finished and doesn't even work properly? Crazy isn't it, considering all of the incomplete releases that we see these days, OH WAIT, devs and publishers have been getting crucified for that lately, so who's to blame CCP for wanting to prevent that?

Dust, used to be a failure, but all of a sudden now that they're rolling out some pretty good updates, while teasing us with Project Legion, it's become stable and is considered a decent game (especially considering the fact it's free).

WoD was one hell of an idea and it's a damn shame it never got on it's feet, but Eve certainly wasn't crippled because of it. Do you really think that, after the heavy blows CCP have took in the past, that they want to repeat that by rushing things and making the same mistakes again? They have all the more reason to try to take things slow and recover over time.

Seriously you type like a 12 year old with an extra large tinfoil hat, stop sperging you're just embarrassing yourself.

The reason behind new skins is monetization of game assets provided to players.

While they should monetize the service of painting your ship, and make it like a resculpt service is today available.
Better yet, make it an ISK sink, not monetize anything, so people will just play the game and have money to pay sub.

Well, I'd like to say that the new EOM skin for the Impel is a work of art. The skin may not serve a strict function, but it's pretty as hell to look at, and that seems like function enough to me. The new Aurum pricing seems just right too. Skins have added new life to the game for me. I really can't wait for the EOM and Sarum skins for the Legion. It may be unseemly, but I'm going to do it anyway: I'm begging for EOM and Sarum Legion skins. Please, ccp, please.
