Gas Harvester Activation Time vs mining Amount

Looking at the Gas Harvester I and II, they both have a 20m3 Mining Amount but the T1 has a cycle of 24s and the t2 a cycle of 40s.

what is the advanatage of using t2?if it takes longer to mine the same amount you are exposing yourself to more risk surely, or am i missing something?

You fitted the Gas Cloud Harvester I to your ship (I'd say it was a Venture or Prospect, right?).
You checked the fitted Gas Cloud Harvester I for it's yield - that way ship bonus + your skills are applied, giving you 20m³ + 24s.
You compared those stats to an unfitted Gas Cloud Harvester II in the market - without ship bonus or your skills.

Use the compare tool to compare I and II without skills to see the difference.

Gas Cloud Harvester I
* Duration: 30.0 sec
* Mining amount: 10 m3

10 / 30 = 0.33 m3 per second

Gas Cloud Harvester II
* Duration: 40.0 sec
* Mining amount: 20 m3

20 / 40 = 0.5 m3 per second

(0.5 - 0.33) / 0.33 = 52% more m3 per second

Ahh yes, silly me, i had looked at the tats whilst fitted, oh well, thanks for the info:/
