Question for ccp and why they took the sleeper kill data out

So just recently got back to playing in wormhole space, and was wondering why ccp would take out the sleeper kill data?

So it would make it harder for people to guess running time of sites?

Or was it because to many people complained about getting ganked.

I wouldn't mind if someone could direct me to a post somewhere, but find this pretty stupid unless you are a direct farming corporation.

Thanks o/

IE if they could resupply us with this data their would be a lot more deaths to purely ratting corporations that lived in C5/C6 space. Just my opinion.

NPC ship kills, pod kills, player ship kills, and ship jumps were all removed for 2 main reasons.

1.) CCP said it was never intended to be publicly available from day 1 and was an oversight
2.) Enough of the people who make these decisions felt wspace didn't have methods to record this data in the EVE universe, unlike kspace that has gates and stations.

Its was argued back and forth .. most have moved on.

Yeah I was just wondering if there was a legit reason because in any event wspace is supposed to be a magical/mystical place where nothing can be recorded. But in any event if it wasn't supposed to be released why did they keep it out for so long :p.

Thank you for answering my question.

That was a hot topic during the multiple forum debates at the time. Even stranger is when they removed ship jumps about a year ago but then many months later removed the kill data citing similar reasons.

And your welcome :)

I think one of the main arguments was that you could not access that data from the ingame client.
But then again, system effects can also not be seen from the ingame client.

No local in null sec would fix everything!

It would be kind of cool if when you jumped in like sov it gave you like "Pulsar" "Magnetar" "Black Hole" etc. But that is knowledge that is allowed to be viewed by the api. So idk.

Not so much of a jump really. As it stands, it tells you that something is up with that "system effects ship" popup. Why not have it tell you what's going on? I see no real problem with that. Maybe just say what type though, rather than listing all the effects, keep it from being completely spoon-fed?

Maybe they could add it to future in-game WH mapping tools?

Yeah, well, it's just like my opinion, man.

Many system of showing that are possible(like the incursion system effects or the way fw is displayed).
It was just an example of a thing that also need to be known through external sources, like the sleeper kill data was .

Close but i believe i can tell the moving on story a little better so boil the kettle and get the marshmallows out for a little elaboration. Lol

Some vodka skulling, snow hovel dwellers loved to use this mechanic to loggoff trap the poor farmers hiding away in their den on critted seclusion. The farmers cried relentlessly to CCP for help from the Russian boogeymen.

CCP agreed that the only terror in the night should be the random rage rolling from the big 3 kids lurking in the dorm rooms of overpriced under educated murican universities and the ISK hoarding risk adverse scardy cats savior jumped into the frey with his wild "four foxes" fresh from a Game Of Thrones series preview and nerf hammered the API loving of the Russian boogey men.

The out pour of grief at the game changing, life crippling nerf was too much for the vodka salted hearts to bear and the hunters fell into the shadows while they took stock of their vodka supplies and huddled in corners of sleazy snow ridden bars to hatch the new master plan.

And so they did...

The boogeymen swore to not let this get them down and they regrouped and shook up their ranks slightly, they "blood unioned" away all their saltyness with a vengeance the like of a "quantum explosion" and now we have become to know this as the normal of C6 space of today.

Evicting away all the lesser beings in C6 space that have been taking up far too much of their good wild snow bearing space they had begun the transition. Smart as these secretive vodka overlords are they kept two of the murican gun totting frat kids in their pocket all this time knowing that as much as it was a hassle communicating their orders with these lesser beings they would need them in the end.

The vodka overlords had now instilled most of C6 space with their can't beat em join em brigade of renters, with the big two murican preppies taking their "hidden" kickback and "noobing" the haters at bay. With their protection racket well sown up it became candy land with rainbows, lollypops and crashed MNR markets for all. Long live the blue looted kickbacks they said as they huddled by the Vegas pool bar laughing at the coalition of the Krabs that dare as they might to change the status qou of their current lives.

Too much? Not far enough? I take requests for story time also... Pirate

Works for me. Better when I'm home anyway and can actually watch the stream.

I'll have Candi prepare her body and wear something pretty.
